In november and December you can have a free soup, roll and a drink in most stores. This is a good offer from them I think you could meet your friends and spend a couple of hours warm and fed. Bit sad when you think this is back to soup kitchens really but generous all the same.

This sort of offer is very ageist as there are many people of all age groups who would really appreciate this.

Blimey. You can't do right for doing wrong these days.

Just checked and our local large Asda has a McDonalds...

Has Strictly run it’s course? In my opinion it has, I wouldn’t be surprised if ratings have nosedived.

Meant as a new thread ooops!

Crumbs

Meant as a new thread ooops!

The same question has been asked for the last few years. While people are still voting, and ‘celebrities’ are willing to earn money, it’ll still go on.

I really enjoyed it up to last year, was the one program I looked forward to. Won’t be watching anymore.

Maybe start a new thread Crumbs?

Not sure what our Asda has - it's been open quite a few years but I've only been in once. There was a fight going on in one of the aisles and a police caravan is permanently parked outside. It rather put me off...

I recently discovered Bald Foodie Guy on YouTube who does regular price and taste comparisons. He's really good.

Oh, TiggyW- please may I join you?

Some folk are never pleased...

My thoughts exactly. I can't see what's not to like about this? Maybe other supermarkets will follow suit.

Asda recently did up it's cafe here, I think it's very good of Asda to do this for people who need it.

I’m turning 60, two weeks today. Sadly Asda closed its cafe in the pandemic and will not reopen

Never mind Minxie. Have a very happy birthday. Wish I was 60 again. Enjoy!

Just read Asda is cutting its wages for its delivery drivers by 14%. So maybe not such a philanthropic organisation as they’d like us to think.

As vegansrock says -

www.theguardian.com/business/2022/oct/11/asda-to-cut-delivery-drivers-pay-shortage

It emerged recently that some Asda employees were having to skip household bill payments, take out loans, and even use food banks to get through the month due to regular payroll errors that have seen some underpaid by £500 or more. Asda apologised at the time and said it was taking action to ensure it never happened again

NotSpaghetti Wed 12-Oct-22 10:34:18

Just read that Asda to cut delivery drivers’ pay by 12% despite staff shortage - I think yhis is after a "premium" scheme but it is already the lowest-paying of big supermarkets apparently.

Maybe this is how they will

NotSpaghetti Wed 12-Oct-22 10:34:52

Maybe this is how they will fund the soop offer.

MissAdventure Wed 12-Oct-22 16:00:17

All the supermarkets pay similar, but Asda, although down the lower end, offers employees the best bonuses, apparently.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Wed 12-Oct-22 16:28:30

It's a nice idea in theory but are there any caveats? Would you be expected to vacate your table as doon as you've finished, as opposed to lingering for a while?

Would you get a seat anyway if there's a stampede of us all wanting the same thing at the same time?

Happilyretired123 Wed 12-Oct-22 16:32:13

Our ASDA closed down the cafe. The nearest one is 7 miles away!
