What is good to buy from Waitrose?

I have been given a voucher for Waitrose ( or John Lewis) and we have decided to make a shopping trip there this week or next to buy some special treats- things we can’t get locally.
( We have a local Co-op, Aldi and good independent shops and normally get a delivery from Sainsbury’s ). I would like some recommendations of food or drink from Waitrose please.

Yes, really! It was a staff member who told me when I couldn’t find the product - olive oil I think it was. This week I had £3 off a tin of shortbread and £3 off something else - can’t remember now, but I bought neither and scanned both vouchers, and got £6 off.

Thank you Cougar530, that is useful information.

Do you have to use the self service tills?
Anyone know if you can buy nonUProcessed bread in Waitrose?

I shop there every day as it is a 3 minute walk away and this morning I bought a Cranks wholemeal loaf. The ingredients look very wholesome. I expect other shops sell it.
Waitrose's own sliced wholemeal contains emulsifiers.

Cranks is very nice, but not so good for sandwiches. Great for a buttered slice with honey though.

The vouchers will scan whatever you buy, plenty of discounts to be had, good wine promotion at present, one irritation is they don't stock the larger pack sizes.
Mine has just had checkouts reduced and more self scan that’s OK for small shops but large shops, alcohol or restricted items that need authorizing it’s a pain.

I wonder what she bought and did she like her purchases. We should be told!!

As far as I know/remember from visits she bought a lot of salmon fillets and cheeses. They probably bought a lot of smoked ham, eggs, lamb chops and watercress. Possibly ice cream.Couldn’t tell you what else, she died in 2002 and we didn’t live in the uk. She didn’t like Sainsburys because it was too crowded and wild horses wouldn’t drag her into any of the discount stores. She used to go to Harrods for morning tea from time to time and she loved the sales there where she bought loads of English crockery.
