Tea? Yes please, but do make sure it's loose leaf every time. Here's my celebration of that wonderful brew. Get that kettle on...
A Nice Cup of Tea
When I wake up every morning, and I’ve finished with my yawning, and I thank the Lord that I’ve been spared once more,
I make a pot of tea, and the taste to guarantee, I always let it brew before I pour.
There’s Assam and Darjeelin’, and Ceylon is quite appealing, English Breakfast always seems to hit the spot,
But make sure that pot is warm, or the brewing you will harm, and your water always must be boiling hot.
Let it sit and take on flavour, so it’s something you can savour, that first sip sets taste buds bursting with delight,
Now relax and please don’t hurry, there’s no need to sit and worry, just chill out and let that nectar make you right.
I don’t think that it’s just me, as so many love their tea, it’s the favourite drink throughout our British Nation,
Though I like a coffee too, tea is still the champion brew, and will always get unqualified ovation.
When our troubles get us down, when we wear a worried frown, as our lives seem to have turned to stormy sea,
If we’ve had some awful news, all that tension to defuse, there’s nothing better than a welcome cup of tea.
And a teapot that you share, with a friend for whom you care, is a blessing sent from heaven up above,
As you sip that brew together, why it’s “never mind the weather”, it’s a cup that goes down better with some love.
So enjoy your cup of tea, and savour it, like me, as I’m sitting here reflecting on times past,
Put your brake on and slow down, play a nice, relaxing tune, life’s too short to spend it always stuck on ‘fast’.
It sometimes seems to me, life’s just like a cup of tea, regardless of the way in which you take it,
The nature of the brew, why that’s down to me and you, and like life, depends on just how well you make it…
