The context for the query is making mushroom soup in a Swan Soup Maker I bought recently. I broke the glass of my KitchenAid blender a couple of years ago and have missed its soup-making usefulness. I didn’t use it for much other than soup-making so went for a not too expensive soup-maker from a local shop.
Despite using the gadget’s own recipe for mushroom soup, we have not managed to make a mushroom soup successfully with it. It managed tomato and basil soup no bother and I shall try its other suggested recipe for leek and potato soup.
We have managed to make “mushroom sludge”. Twice. Just as well I can use mushroom sludge in mince recipes.
Anyway, MrB thought peeling the mushrooms would help and I thought not. Even peeled the caps of commonly sold field mushrooms are a different (stiffer) consistency from the gills and the soup-maker can’t cope with them.
Perhaps I still need a blender for actual mushroom soup-making.
