Had a mad moment and bought a Breville sandwich press at the weekend. Thought it might help with ideas for lunch. Apart from cheese and ham sandwiches, any suggestions. I have brought some paninis to have a go with. Thanks

I love a bacon, brie and cranberry panini. I do mine in the baby George as I don't have a sandwich press.

I also have a baby George Foreman. My favourite is bacon with blue brie cheese. I also like Nutella with baby marshmallows.

Cheese with grated apple and grated onion is lovely too.

Sounds odd , but egg mayo toasted sandwiches are tasty

These are all firm favourites in our house........

Baked beans
Cooked bacon lardons (with cheese)
Finely chopped onion (with cheese)

Pesto, tomato and mozzarella.
Banana and Nutella
Put pizza toppings in them

As you see, I've been having a think!

The original Breville from 80s were the best none of them now are as good. Cheese and onion bliss George Forman or toast bags work for me.

Fruit loaf with apple sauce.

I have a breville and I also use it for toast, which happens quicker and is crunchier than from my toaster.

I read that as pesto, tomato and Nutella, MiniMoon. I was 'puzzled' grin

I buy ready rolled pastry and make things like apple “pies”, banana and Nutella pies, leftover chicken with mushrooms and a little condensed soup, etc. All very tasty with very little effort on my part.

Apple slices and cheese used to be my favourite. Now that I'm vegan - it's raspberry jam.

Casdon Tue 18-Jul-23 12:52:31

I like a tuna panini, with sweetcorn, black olives, tomatoes or cheese, depending how I feel that day.

Toddleo Tue 18-Jul-23 12:52:45

Scrambled eggs with spring onions and tomatoes and a blob of ketchup was a favourite of mine.

Haloumi and roasted red pepper panini. Yum yumg

dustyangel Tue 18-Jul-23 13:53:12

Tuna and mayonnaise with an added slice of cheese.

Tanjamaltija Tue 18-Jul-23 17:00:23

Ricotta with parsley and cheese - they are like mini-pies.

Thanks for all suggestions. I'm really intrigued by the "apple pie". Would that be flaky or shortcrust and did you seal the edges before putting it on the hotplate?

I used shortcrust but the woman I saw on the tv used Flaky which I don't like. Yes, I sealed the edges and brushed the tops! Just Google, "toaster recipes with pastry sheets" and you get loads of options.
