I sleep badly and often wake due to bad back pain etc. So I just drink water at that time, but once I am up it has to be coffee for me. I have my version of the japanese tea ceremony. The cup or mug must be of fine white china, never british rail style thick china, Then the cafetiere is warmed whilst the kettle is on. Then emptied and the exact amount of beautiful coffee is put into the cafetier and the water is poured on as it begins to come to the boil - but never allowed to boil. I breath in the wonderful "eau de cafe" and when ready pour into my mug , adding the smallest amount of cold milk. Then usually it is Bach on radio 3 at 6.55am. It starts the day off well. My wonderful coffee cheers me up , and helps me to cope with the pain and so I begin my day. When I go out I take all the things in my car, with spare cups and cafetiere in case of breakages and can be sure of good quality ground coffee as and when I want it.!! I have taken my own refillable mug for years , to coffee shops. I am sure they wash up properly but it is that horrible thick and sometimes quite heavy crockery I dislike . Tastes so much better from china!
