I’ve just had an operation (all is fine) but I have been fancying rice pudding and fish pie.
For me real comfort food especially rice pudding.

What do others turn to?

For Sara1954 - Macaroni Cheese??? OMG - you've taken me back to school (Grammar) when we regularly got assaulted with that horrible muck, you could smell it from the dining hall which was 100 yards or so from the Main School. It was the standout worst offering they used to do (most were OK TBF), along with some weird attempt to cook corned beef - I've still no idea what that was supposed to be. And most of us had to force down even their lame efforts, or go hungry.

I'm fine with cheese on various things, but not that. Come to think of it, I'm not sure what the best accompaniment might be for Macaroni, a hungry dog perhaps??!

Surely you jest!
I could eat it every night, two of my granddaughters also love it, my husband not so much
Maybe your taste buds have changed, give it another go.

Stew and dumplings for me but when I am not well it is Heinz tomato soup and boiled eggs.

Macaroni and cheese for me too and if I'm just peckish, a couple of slices of toast with loads of butter.

We had macaroni cheese for supper tonight along with a green salad.

DrWatson I agree, school macaroni cheese was revolting I used to swear they kept a lump of cheese on the side for a term at a time, just showing it to the macaroni in flour sauce to let it know what it was meant to be.

However, you should never let school food frighten you too much. If you live near a branch of the Lounge chain of restaurants, order their small portion of macaroni cheese, just to get an idea about just how good macaroni cheese can really be.

Macaroni cheese is my Gdcs’ favourite - a ‘granny special’ whenever they’re staying.

Having said that, I do abhor inferior tasteless versions - not enough cheese, or they’ve used mild cheddar - or both - no mustard (IMO it needs a good dollop of Colman’s English) plus S&P.

I am trying to lower my cholesterol, and what could be worse?
So I prefer not to have it at all than have an awful uncheesy version.

Absolutely anything with peanut butter for me.
