I hope I am committing a sin by starting a new thread but the other one is full and I enjoy it and the photos
I popped to the cheap farm shop on the way home from work to buy dog food and vegetables so I have made a sausage casserole with jacket potatoes. I normally put the potatoes in the casserole (I know ) but there was no room as I bought a rather nice leek it smells delicious
At the moment ( 24th December ) I just took out the roast for those who wish to have meat.
I have not yet taken photos of the fresh salmon and am still preparing the plating for the prawns (langostinos), the salad and also the deviled eggs & canapes !!!!!!!!!!!!
Masala lamb chops, spicy roasted new potatoes, tomato and red onion salad and raita. With maybe a mince pie and brandy cream to follow and a glass or two of
Thanks to Christmas Day plans going awry late last night (COVID related) no turkey dinner today 😩. Instead we’ll be having cold gammon (cooked the other day), jacket potatoes and homemade coleslaw. We’ll be having a ‘proper’ Christmas dinner chez dd tomorrow though.
Ham, egg and chips. I also have loads of bubble and squeak ,in the freezer, which I made yesterday from left over veg. Love it with bacon and a fried egg.
Left over today. With apple and cranberry crumble and custard. We would have had left over trifle but the DGC eyed it as they left so have gone off with 3/4 of a bowl of trifle.
Just hope I get my precious cut glass trifle bowl back in good shape!
This morning I came home after two days away. I have a full freezer but not much in the fridge. My son-in-law gave me a plate of turkey and veg leftovers to reheat which I shall enjoy later. He also used up some lamb in a casserole, but I left before it was fully cooked so I have popped the oven on to finish off the cooking and will eat that in about half an hour. Back to reality tomorrow!
The last of our cold turkey crown, a lovely Daylesford ham brought and left by son and girlfriend along with some of their pickles and relishes I'll be making bubble and squeak to go with the cold meats. It seems all our guests brought cheese and biscuits and then refused to take any away with them so we have a shed load, I can't see me buying cheese again anytime soon, well not this side of 2024 anyway!
Y son has just dropped off the remains of Christmas dinner which needs to be eaten today. There is enough for two or more so I have messaged a friend who is likely to be home alone. It will be four days in a row for me! Or the bin.
Roast pork with roast potatoes, cauliflower/broccoli cheese, sprouts, stuffing (leftover from Christmas), proper gravy, and then we’ll start on the 2nd Christmas pud, with the 2nd lot of brandy butter, which I’ve still got to make. 😋
