28 / 11. Tuesday.
Sometimes, my husband and I enjoy having brunch during the week at home instead of a typical Menu del Día as we live in The Madrid Capital.
Eggs Benedict is quite versatile and can be prepared with either Smoked Salmon or Bacon or Ham. Eggs Florentine is quite a healthy alternative and French toast is always quite endearing.

^The Times - I believe you are referring to The London Times^ ( ? )
There is only one The Times
I'm not aware of a newspaper called The London Times
There is The Times ( London Times to distiguish location ) and it is very large too ..
Los Angeles Times ( enormous newspaper )
The New York Times ( enoromous newspaper )
There is also Time Magazine
Lunch today was at a little country pub, everything home-cooked. I baked salmon, new potatoes, and green beans with garlic, lemon, and butter sauce. My husband had steak and ale pie, skin-on fries, and mushy peas.
Casdon,
We just have a different time schedule for meals ..
We eat our main meal for lunch 14.00 .. A starter and a main course .. Dessert not often.
We do a cheese platter and some fruit but a bit later in the afternoon. Close to 16.30 or 17.00.
And very light in the evening .. 2 Tapas and share ..
20.30 / 21.00 at our corner bar with dear friends or family.
I like ventresca white albacore tuna in a salad Niçoise ..
However, weather is quite chilly still.
Today lunch was baked perch served with a baked Jack ..
Have a lovely weekend.

There isn’t, our the Times is called the London Times abroad, because other countries have newspapers called the Times too, eg the Times of India.

On the subject of the menu del dia I thought this was interesting
the traditional menú del día — a core offering at many establishments - has been called into question
In 1965, in the time of General Franco's dictatorship, a law was passed that required many restaurants to offer an affordable set menu midweek lunch. Starting primarily as an initiative to encourage tourism, the menú del día soon became an institution across Spain
But as weekday routines change, prices for staple ingredients soar and margins for serving a three-course meal with a drink are squeezed, the custom has an uncertain future
The Times today
The subject of a Menú del Día originally had nothing to do with tourism.
It has been an initiative for the labour force, office workers, as well as professionals, students and also visitors ..
I have not seen the article however, when I return to The Madrid Capital Monday, I shall see if I can locating the article in The Times - I believe you are referring to The London Times ( ? )
This would be a fool hearty decision on behalf of the owners of the restaurants as they have a full restaurant of workers and have also raised their prices in the last 2 years, though still worth the cost ..
And the workers would still have to have lunch ! The fast food establishments are also packed full ..
My husband and I had travelled to Marseille, France for Saint Valentine´s Weekend and we shall return to The Madrid Capital on Monday the 17th.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Home made minestrone with roll. Chopped apple.
Two sausage rolls from Sainsbury’s warmed in the oven and a bag of Walker’s French fries.
Saturday the 8th of February 2025 ..
Flour based home made gnocchi (not potato based) with spinach and Italian Fontina cheese was our main course.

We rarely have dessert at home directly after lunch. Just too too much and too many odd digestive ingredients.
