Sainsbury's Plum Chutney

The jar I bought a couple of weeks refuses to yield up it's contents - for the life of me I must have tried everything! Warming up the jar, cooling it in the fridge for a couple of hours. A male neighbour tried and gave up, saying "God in heaven - it must be superglued on!"
Indeed. Why do manufacturers do this?

I just pierce the lid with a pair of kitchen scissors to let the air out. The chutney never lasts long enough to go off.

Old style lever bottle opener works every time. Doesn’t bend your forks and scissors, and no trips to casualty! As busy bee says, you will hear the deal go.

I have had the same thing happen with a jar of pasta sauce from Sainsbury's. Still remains firmly unopened. I haven't tried to open my jar of plum chutney yet.

I bought some Tiptree jam directly from them. Had to buy a jar/bottle opener off Amazon as no matter what we tried DH nor I could get the lid off any of the 10 jars.

Hotwater works as does a knock around the sides or a Teaspoon under the lid and lever up.
