Which staple in your cupboard or pantry would you be lost without. Just one choice.
For me would have to be Passatta.

Potatoes

Chocolate

Gin

Not necessarily in that order.

Oooh a good extra virgin olive oil. Prices have gone up a lot this past year or so but I really have to have this to hand. I can literally drink it off the spoon and love to dip bread in it

I wasn't thinking of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, just the ordinary type for cooking. But both, given the option.

I agree, it has gone up enormously, but it is non-negotiable in my life.

I'm with MissAdventure, mine would also be bread. Cheese would be a close second but woman cannot live by cheese alone.

I love the way posters have sneaked in other staples. So I will add pasta and lentils - we are vegetarian so lentils and beans are essential, oh yes and all kinds of beans 🫣

Lidl’s range of Colombian and Ecuadorian coffee granules are good if you like a nice robust coffee.πŸ‘

Coffee, good coffee. I buy from a company called "Rise" so you get different ones each time a box arrives.

Milk is what I watch most closely and must never run out of. Then bread then butter for DH sandwiches for work.
For me, coffee. Always looking for a better flavour....

My OH wants me to add aubergines, he has a long love affair with this vegetable and I must have cooked it every which way in my time.

I'm sure I could be without any ONE of the "staples" in my cupboard to be honest - no olive oil, use butter or peanut/sunflower/rape/walnut/sesame oil as appropriate.
No tea, drink herbal teas/coffee/hot chocolate or whatever.
No tinned tomatoes - go back to fresh.
No bread - I'd have flour
No flour, buy bread or make oatcakes?

I think the problem would be to lose a lot of my "staples" all at once.
