In the interests of consumer research, you understand, I have sampled this Chritsmas cheese selection from Waitrose.
I think it's good value at £9. They're all French, of course, and the lemon quince jelly is tasty too.
Ideal for anyone who wants a variety of textures and flavours in their cheeses without having to buy big hunks.
I'll be off for another pack at the weekend!

I prefer British cheese at Christmas, in fact all the time, and we have so many delicious choices.
Cote Hill blue
Beauvale
Somerset Brie
Welsh goats cheese, and of course Stinking Bishop, and so many more.
The local cheese shop will do me nicely. Yum.

I might have just decided what's for Christmas dinner.

Baggs Tue 10-Dec-24 15:51:26

Oh wait! Caboc doesn't have pineapple pieces. but it is a soft cheese rolled in oatmeal.

Baked Camembert is always a favourite with me, especially baked inside a walnut and apricot ring loaf.

I love that soft cheese with tiny pineapple pieces, rolled in chopped nuts. Plain oatcakes seem to go best with it, as they don't mask the flavour with salt.

Caboc.

I once asked the cheesemonger in Oxford Covered Market if he had it. He hadn't. I don't think he had even heard of it, but he got me some!

If it were still available I would have added Lymeswold to my selection.
It was made for a very short time and then disappeared.
It was a good cheese.

I used to enjoy that too.
I am having a baked Camembert for my solo Christmas lunch, and also bought some Cambozola blue brie which I started on for lunch today! Luckily I anticipated being tempted so have another piece.

My favourite cheeses for Christmas are: White Stilton, Blue Stilton and Wensleydale with Cranberries.

I like the English blue Stilton and Brie. Also some of the Tasmanian cheeses are lovely, Mersey valley for one.

Cambazola (can’t spell it)

I’m simple soul..St Agur and a vintage cheddar…

Personally, I don’t have any chutney or pickles with my cheese. Just have it with a French stick.
I think pickles and chutney are so strong they detract from the flavour of the cheese..

MissAdventure Tue 10-Dec-24 11:56:48

Oh that sounds delicious!
I'd love try it.

Being French and my husband Spanish, we are grand fans of international cheeses.

We do a 7 cheese variety and each one is different ..

1 French soft cheese, usually a Brie ..

1 Italian aged cow cheese such as Pecorino Romano or Pecorino del Emilia Romana. Or a fresh cheese such as Buratta from Puglia or Napoli Mozzarella di Bufala.

1 Spanish goat cheese with a Paprika rind from the La Vera Extremadura Autonomous Community or Galician Don Simon de La Costa Smoked cow cheese.

1 Aged Sheep cheese - usually Manchego from Albacete, Castilla La Mancha.

1 French semi tender such as Comté .. from the Savoie Region.

1 British Blue Stilton ..

1 Spanish Asturian Blue Picon with blue berries ..

They are served on a board with freshly baked Baguettes from the bakery warm temperature and fruits such as apples, blue berries, black berries and pithaya or mango are served on a separate board to accompany .. with cards indicating which cheese is which and a brief description and country affiliation.

We are grand fans of most cheeses except orange cheeses.

A good strong cheddar with oatcakes and some of my potted cheese made with Guinness.

MissAdventure Tue 10-Dec-24 11:51:13

I think it's time for my elevenses.
Cheese and crackers, with tomato chutney.

Real sage derby, the one with the stripe of sage in the middle that really tastes of sage, not the all over green and tasteless one that masquerades as sage derby in supermarkets.

Ziggy62 Tue 10-Dec-24 11:13:41

Any cheese at all, love it

MayBee70 Tue 10-Dec-24 10:58:03

Wensleydale with cranberries. I used to like Sage Derby but haven’t had any for years. And Brie. I love Brie.

RosiesMaw2 Tue 10-Dec-24 10:54:47

Montgomery Cheddar -made by DH’s cousins, Stilton of course and probably a goat Gouda.

Jaxjacky Tue 10-Dec-24 10:51:06

My favourite is Trappe Echourgnac, a Smokey cheese washed with walnut liqueur, but it’s very expensive.
In reality there will be a smoked cheese, a blue, strong cheddar and a soft Tunworth made locally.

henetha Tue 10-Dec-24 10:46:15

I love a good Cheddar cheese. In fact, I like nearly all cheese.
But I regularly buy Brie and Cheddar, sometimes with onions,
and St.Agur. I can't imagine life without cheese.

Butlers Blacksticks Blue, available at a Booths near you. No, I'm not being paid to write this!

Cheers.

MiniMoon Tue 10-Dec-24 10:31:36

I love any and all cheese. For Christmas, I have to buy wensleydale with cranberries, a really good cheddar and brie.
We have a cheese farm nearby, and their nettle cheese is delicious.

MissAdventure Tue 10-Dec-24 10:28:26

I love all the chutneys and pickles, and cherry tomatoes.

MissAdventure Tue 10-Dec-24 10:26:18

Boursin with French stick was my girl's favourite (with butter, too!)

She liked the smelly cheeses, too.
