In the interests of consumer research, you understand, I have sampled this Chritsmas cheese selection from Waitrose.
I think it's good value at £9. They're all French, of course, and the lemon quince jelly is tasty too.
Ideal for anyone who wants a variety of textures and flavours in their cheeses without having to buy big hunks.
I'll be off for another pack at the weekend!

I like a mature Stilton, good Cheddar along with a Brie, Comte and Dolcelatte.

I have crusty bread with cheese, not a fan of biscuits for cheese

GrannyGravy13 Tue 10-Dec-24 09:38:28

Accompanied by home made tomato chutney, fig jam, celery, apple, grapes and fresh figs.

Oh one of my favourite subjects!

Sadly one of my favourite ever cheese Richard 111 Wensleydale is no longer made so I will start with a Kit Calvert Wensleydale, Snowdonia Black Bomber, Tunworth, Singletons Lancashire, strong Cornish Cheddar, Orkney Smoked Cheddar, Blacksticks Blue and finally just one French cheese Epoisses or if not available Delice de Bourgogne.

I could go on!

I love Fortnums chutney and usually get some in my Xmas stocking otherwise any nice dark chutney will do.

Carr’s biscuits always and some quality grapes, little sticks of celery or British pears in season.

I would purchase all the cheese from the Courtyard Dairy at Settle, they arrive in beautiful condition, even better if you live close enough to call in you can sample all their wonderful cheeses!

Snowdonia Black Bomber, Tintern cheese, Somerset Brie, Wensleydale with cranberries.

Ooh, all of the cheese, please! I do love a cheeseboard. I'm honestly not that fussed what cheese is on it - as long as there's a nice selection of different cheeses with some lovely oatcakes and crackers and preferably a few pickles or chutneys too. I made a nice carrot chutney this year, so I'd have some of that.

A really good truckle of proper cheddar such as Godminster or Quickes, a good blue Stilton and some Baron Bigod plus some of the lovely artisan cheeses out there.

Shinamae Tue 10-Dec-24 10:15:17

I’m simple soul..St Agur and a vintage cheddar…

DH eats a lot of cheese; mostly Emmental and Gruyère. But we both like a good strong Stilton. One Christmas we tried Stinking Bishop. Never again. It went straight up your nose and stayed there.
This Christmas we have a mixed selection from M&S and a jar of Stilton.

I like a good cheddar but it isn't the same with gf bread or biscuits.

I bought DH a cheese advent calendar which he is enjoying.

We are not far from Long Clawson so a Stilton usually figures over Christmas and the remains end up in a sauce with a steak.

MissAdventure Tue 10-Dec-24 10:20:41

I'm content with a nice strong cheddar.

I do love to try the little cheese board selections, though too.

Emmental is tasty.

My cheeseboard would have one hard cheese, a mature cheddar, one blue cheese , mature Stilton, one soft cheese , dolcelatte and just because I like it Boursin with garlic and herbs.
Grapes, celery and Hebridean oatcakes.
Butter would also be on the table, my friend never provides butter, They like their biscuits/ crackers/ French stick dry.
Not me I love butter.

Usedtobeblonde Tue 10-Dec-24 10:25:56

If it were still available I would have added Lymeswold to my selection.
It was made for a very short time and then disappeared.
It was a good cheese.

MissAdventure Tue 10-Dec-24 10:26:18

Boursin with French stick was my girl's favourite (with butter, too!)

She liked the smelly cheeses, too.

MissAdventure Tue 10-Dec-24 10:28:26

I love all the chutneys and pickles, and cherry tomatoes.

MiniMoon Tue 10-Dec-24 10:31:36

I love any and all cheese. For Christmas, I have to buy wensleydale with cranberries, a really good cheddar and brie.
We have a cheese farm nearby, and their nettle cheese is delicious.

Butlers Blacksticks Blue, available at a Booths near you. No, I'm not being paid to write this!

Cheers.

henetha Tue 10-Dec-24 10:46:15

I love a good Cheddar cheese. In fact, I like nearly all cheese.
But I regularly buy Brie and Cheddar, sometimes with onions,
and St.Agur. I can't imagine life without cheese.

Jaxjacky Tue 10-Dec-24 10:51:06

My favourite is Trappe Echourgnac, a Smokey cheese washed with walnut liqueur, but it’s very expensive.
In reality there will be a smoked cheese, a blue, strong cheddar and a soft Tunworth made locally.

RosiesMaw2 Tue 10-Dec-24 10:54:47

Montgomery Cheddar -made by DH’s cousins, Stilton of course and probably a goat Gouda.

MayBee70 Tue 10-Dec-24 10:58:03

Wensleydale with cranberries. I used to like Sage Derby but haven’t had any for years. And Brie. I love Brie.

Ziggy62 Tue 10-Dec-24 11:13:41

Any cheese at all, love it

M0nica Tue 10-Dec-24 11:49:09

Real sage derby, the one with the stripe of sage in the middle that really tastes of sage, not the all over green and tasteless one that masquerades as sage derby in supermarkets.

MissAdventure Tue 10-Dec-24 11:51:13

I think it's time for my elevenses.
Cheese and crackers, with tomato chutney.

teabagwoman Tue 10-Dec-24 11:51:24

A good strong cheddar with oatcakes and some of my potted cheese made with Guinness.
