Yesterday I opened a packet of Blonde Chocolate covered Brazils - they were so nice, I do like chocolate covered brazils but these were a delicious new option only discovered this year.
Anyone else found something new in the abundant Christmas array of food.

No, but those sound nice!

I have, though, discovered some foods later in life and loved them, halloumi and chick peas are just two of them!

I haven't found any new food I like, but funnily enough, I seem to have gone off a lot of different food items that I've loved for years.

Still can't get into chick peas - I think it's too late.

I discovered that I loved Spaghetti Vongole. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined liking clams!

Me neither - it's like chewing pebbles.

I have recently discovered a liking for beetroot, something I was completely turned off in childhood when it was always served up boiled, cold and marinated in malt vinegar. ((Shudder)).
My partner recently discovered kiwi fruit and is becoming a bit of an addict.
Definitely seasonal, I have finally admitted how much I dislike mince pies and no longer eat them just to be polite!

I like chick peas in salads or whizzed into hummus. I like air fried chick peas. Drain, dry, mix with a little oil and spices (Cajun is good) and air fry for 10-15 minutes giving them a shake mid way.

I used to hate avocados but am now in danger of becoming addicted to them. I doubt that I will ever come to like chickpeas or kiwi fruit.

I used to hate gherkins but love them now, also walnuts which scared me ( as a kid)😄 as they look like tiny brains.

Hi kittylester, have you tried eating chickpeas, not on their own but incorporated into a lovely, garlicky creamy humus.?
It's delicious & morish, unctuous & full of fibre & goodness too.
Spread it on crackers or good-bread or be a complete fat ruddy-pig & eat it straight out of the pot!!! 😬

I’ve had very few food dislikes and would pretty much eat anything that was presented to me. But I’ve spent most of my adult life thinking I’m not keen on honey. Recently my grandson suggested I copy him and add some to my bowl of porridge. I did it to please him and now I love it.

I’ve been obsessed with eating oranges for quite a while now. To the point of thinking I’m addicted to them so I’ve had to go cold turkey. Oranges used to give me migraines so I avoided them for a long time. They’re still not good for my ibs though! And they give me indigestion. I keep thinking if the haliborange orange tablets I used to take.

I tend to avoid all extras ( apart from gravy ) and additives eg sauces, chutneys, as I prefer to taste the food not disguise it. But maybe I should take the opportunity to try more things when I am eating at other people’s houses.

I have problems now with restaurant menus as some of the things I don't like appear everywhere- mayonnaise, bottled sauces, very spicy things, avocados, bloody oily hummus!

Marydoll I love spaghetti vongole too! 😋

Lovemylife Mon 23-Dec-24 15:25:35

This is what I love too, I have it for lunch most weekdays on thin crackers and/or vegetable fingers. I have to confess that I buy it because I can't make it as well as the Ramona pots - I have tried!
I pressure cook batches of chick peas, freeze them and put a handful in when I'm making a curry. Can't honestly say that I like them straight or air fried though.

I have recently tried something that has been around since before my children took them in their school packed lunches 50 odd years ago: Tunnock's Caramel Wafers. There are 8 in a pack, and once opened I can't leave them alone! I have always been aware of Tunnock's Tea Cakes, which are also delicious.

Another one here, cannot get to liking chick peas. Not in any shape or form, I've tried them all including dried roasted.

I'm never without Greek Yogurt, that's a fairly recent thing for me, not the Greek style version but the real stuff. It''s great with most fruits and I've developed a liking for hazelnuts and even chuck a few seeds into the mix that get lost with whatever fruit I have with it. . My go to breakfast. In the summer I like Nectarines, depending on their quality, at their best they're my favourite fruit.

Only in the last year or two I have started cooking squash for myself. I never liked it before, but now will cook it instead of potatoes for my dinner carb. Diced or sliced in the air fryer with some olive oil and spices it really is good.

I like those too and they’re so easy. My most recent favourite is wasabi peas or wasabi peanuts.

I prefer a tub of Twiglets rather than a box of chocolates. I don’t like cheese either but there are plenty of family to eat my share.

aggie Mon 23-Dec-24 18:16:49

I’ve always liked Greek yogurt on my breakfast cereal , but ran out of it this morning , I’d forgotten how tasty my actual porridge / shredded wheat etc is with just a plash of milk !

Oh Shysal I do so agree. I have a dairy intolerance so theres a lot of foods I can no longer eat. Somehow I get away with Tunnocks Wafers even though milk is listed in the ingredients and do so enjoy them!
