New slogan from Waitrose apparently .
I came back from the supermarket this morning to find my two orchids, an Aloe Vera and my Swiss Cheese Plant hiding under the bed. hmm

😁

The Christmas tree was trying to get out through the conservatory door. It needn't worry, it's too spiky for my liking!

Do Parma Violets count? wink
Asking for a friend - never could stand the things myself!

Yes but I just coudn’t manage that last. African Violet. Sorry🤢

I seem to remember that there used to be chocolates with a violet coloured creme filling and a crystallised violet on top.😂

Funny how what started out as a lighthearted thread has quickly turned serious. Some people have had a sense of humour bypass...

Indeed.

Thirty plants a week is worth a chuckle.

You can always ridicule stuff anyhow, like counting chocolate and wine – not to mention beef and lamb – as plant based.

All food is plant based.

Just what we need Rosie! A good laugh to warm us up. Personally I have tried some of these Plant Products and don’t ever go near that section if I can help it. Plenty of fresh veg , and natural ingredients made by yourself is my recommendation.

Get your apron on, Maw 👩‍🍳😂

What are we, rabbits ? 🐇

You can eat a predominantly carnovore diet and still meet the 30 a week diktat.

The whole thing is a daft way of relaunching what has been said for donkey's years. The best diet is a well balanced diet that includes plenty of variety.

Yes, but different people/guts need different amounts of plant stuff and the particulars of said plant stuff matter too.

As you say, M0n, balance is key.

I have been eating more than 30 types of plants a week since the 70s. It has never been rocket science. Products from plants all count eg rice, pasta, certain oils, seeds, herbs, spices but I have always included varieties of actual living plants and multiple colours in my diet, while avoiding making or buying acrylamides and other destructive harmful `food ` products

It has been very worthwhile, my microbiome is very healthy which means that I have a cheerful optimistic outlook and very good immunity eg butyrate production in my gut is high, a short chain fatty acid, which protects my body. There are countless other protective and helpful gut bacteria

I grew up in a heavy smoke-filled atmosphere and the epigenetics of what would be happening to affect my health was down to me after I got married and had my own home. I decided there and then that I am what I eat

In tandem with the 30 plants, I eat very little meat, organic. As far as possible, no chemicals enter my body and I have also filtered water since the 70s, having seen the chemicals added to water in order to make it `safe` to drink

I love my lifestyle, I love my energy, my enthusiasms and my food and I never sit in a corner waiting for others to provide what my body needs

Well done! I am trying to do the same, gut biome is, to me anyway, a fascinating subject.

Oh thinking about it you can put tomato sauce and pepper on your chips and the chickens eat grain so perhaps an egg on the side
Soon adds up I agree 🤣🤣🤣

The meal was delicious. I used the buddha bowl format and had four different categories - grains, protein, veg and fats- all of which included a variety of flavours and textures. It was colourful as well. Obviously ( to me at least) it isn't practical to attempt this every day but as a small project it was great fun.

Sorry, just spotted NotAGran55's post.

Maremia Sat 11-Jan-25 09:33:20

Does it mean 30 plants in total or 30 different ones? Marmin, that sounds awesome, but was it delicious?

AGAA4 Sat 11-Jan-25 09:18:26

Sprouts and cabbage should be banned for the sake of the earth. 😄

Whitewavemark2 Sat 11-Jan-25 09:07:33

I hope all you massive amount of plant eaters realise that methane is a major human contributor to global warming, - even more than bovines 😄

Marmin Sat 11-Jan-25 08:44:33

I did prepare a single meal which had thirty different plant ingredients. A challenge but perfectly possible with planning.

RosiesMaw2 Sat 11-Jan-25 08:35:06
