New slogan from Waitrose apparently .
I came back from the supermarket this morning to find my two orchids, an Aloe Vera and my Swiss Cheese Plant hiding under the bed. hmm

😂 That made me laugh. Thanks RosiesMaw. Needed a chuckle. I will now go and check if my plants have left home.

It includes herbs, spices, potatotes. we had a thread on this subject a couple of months back and the idea comes from Tim Spector, he of the Zoe scheme and microbiome publicist.

It is actually remarkabley easy to do. Several of us hit 30 plants in about 3 or 4 days.

Today at breakfast I had a hot llemon and honey, then an apple and a glass of pineapple juice = 3

For lunch a risotto contained onions, garlic, peppers, chilli, paprika, rice, with ratatouille, including tomatoes, aubergine peppers courgettes, onion, garlic followed by strawberries = 10

Supper will be tomatoes on toast, followed by fruit and a hot blackcurrant cordial before I go to bed =2
Total for the day = 15

That half the number for the week in one day.

Well, if spider plants are edible, I won't starve!

I told my GS about eating 30 plants a week and he went into my conservatory, where there are several plants and said "Be afraid, be very afraid".grin

We all know it means eat as wide a variety of foods of plant origin as you can (a) tolerate (b) afford and (c) obtain.
Same old story…the thirty year old plant with no name in the window sighs with relief 😮‍💨

And most people will ignore it and carry on as before.
New year, New slogan to bash us about the head with.

Oh dear @ M0nica - only a bit of fun 🤣🤣

By bedtime tonight I’ll have eaten 13 today, think 30 a week will be a doddle.

What will happen to me if I eat my cactus?

Kate1949 Fri 10-Jan-25 17:20:39

You may become a bit prickly!

😆 beware Gransnetters! 🌵 😠

That's a cactus by the way!

Do weeds count?

Kate1949 Fri 10-Jan-25 17:24:33

I notice M&S have a range of Brain Food. confused

Needed a laugh, rosies. Thank you. My houseful of houseplants need to watch it, especially the (edible) begonia!

I do eat a lot of vegetables but feel this is targeting the wrong demographic. Eating lots of fancy tropical fruit, etc., can be very expensive.

I find it harder in winter to eat 30+ different plants a week,(less in the garden) - in summer a good Mediterranean style salad with lots of different leaves, seeds and veg will bump up the variety.

Do weeds count?

Nettles and dandelions do. I'm sure there are plenty of others... grin

AskAlice Fri 10-Jan-25 17:34:39

I think my Venus Fly Trap is safe!

Barleyfields Fri 10-Jan-25 17:36:31

That’s good. I have plenty to hand, unfortunately … whether I would enjoy them is another matter.

@RosiesMaw, 😂😂

Re the plant intake, though, at the mo I have a ‘dustbin’ soup simmering on the hob, containing onions, potato, carrot, swede, celery, parsley, pearl barley, yellow lentils - a few cut up sprouts and a leek to go in for the last few minutes.
So that’s 10.
Not sure where another 20 are going to come from…

Dark chocolate is allowed so just stand by the aspidistra holding a bar of Green & Black's and it will know there is no contest.
