I don’t want to spread panic and alarm, but might Storm Eowyn be to blame for blighting the Yorkshire tea harvest?

Oh dear- this seems to have gone down like a lead balloon in some places sad
Many thanks to those who “got it” and posted in the spirit!

Used to have Yorkshire but dh said the bags kept tearing and distributing leaves. However, he has said perhaps try them again as they were fine when he first had them. I drink Twinings Earl Grey decaffinated.

Asda red is a good substitute. I use Yorkshire usually but had a cup of the Asda with a friend. Couldn't believe it was Asda when I spotted them in her kitchen.

I don’t think there is a shortage, just a blip in that particular shop and its stocking procedure.
It’ll be pasta and toilet rolls next!

Who remembers the sugar shortage in the late 70's? I was in hospital after having a C-section and there wasn't a grain of sugar on any of the Obs & Gynae wards.

Yes. It was 1974. After wasting a precious lunch hour in the queue at the Co-op trying to buy some for the office I decided it wasn't worth the bother and returned to work. I stopped adding sugar to tea and coffee at home and told my co-workers that if they wanted sugar they could go and queue for it themselves!

No shortage in our house, we drink very little tea, both coffee lovers, but it's there for guests who do. Yorkshire tea is my preference when I occasionally fancy a cup. When we had our painter decorator working in the house, I needed industrial provisions of tea, I've never known anyone to drink so much of the brew.

Went to Morrisons buy a big box of Yorkshire tea bags and was flabbergasted at the price... £8.25... hot footed it over the road to Lidl and same size box of Yorkshire tea was £5.49.

How many teabags in it? I bought YTea decaff today, 150 bags in it for £6.30 which was a bit more expensive than usual.

Ringtons! Yes! Best tea I've ever had

Milest0ne Tue 28-Jan-25 21:37:38

Why are there sudden shortages? It was Bird's custard before Christmas and Ovaltine has been in short / infrequent supply for a long time.

Nandalot Tue 28-Jan-25 17:14:10

Plenty in our local B and M today.

Mamma7 Tue 28-Jan-25 17:09:29

Oh no! But I’ve got lots in my cupboard.
I really hate having to tear the bags apart / soooo annoying especially if they tear.

farview Tue 28-Jan-25 16:50:54

Give Lancashire tea a try..it’s delicious 😊

mrsgreenfingers56 Tue 28-Jan-25 15:37:53

Not a fan of this tea as find it way too strong. Aldi Red label tea for me, Yorkshire teabag would last me 3 days so not a problem for me!

Grandmafrench Tue 28-Jan-25 14:25:56

It's been so many years since I've been reliably able to stock up in England with my tea of choice. Trailing from supermarket to supermarket, just to make up a sufficient amount - and finding the shelves empty. Who ever knows why?

Thank the lord for Twinings Ireland who have sent my latest order, delivered today, so I'll have what I need in my tea store for months to come. 🥳

Galton Tue 28-Jan-25 13:59:58

The price of it and we have the decaff mode , I would a surprise if there was a rush to stock it at nearly £7 for the large box.

singingnutty Tue 28-Jan-25 13:31:54

Don't panic! Still available in all outlets here (E.Midlands)
