Tesco food delivery dwindling

We have Morrisons deliveries. Used to be perfect as they came from a depot. Recently the system has moved to picking in the local store. This change has brought weekly out stock items with frankly odd substitutions or newly unavailable items. Unavailability seems to mean the depot stocks the item but the store doesnt. On the positive side the drivers are all cheerful and willingly carry the crates into the kitchen for us. Some even help unpack them onto the worktop. Worth the odd hassle not to carry heavy shopping. We can’t park adjacent to our front door and both have physical limitations.

Our Morrisons deliveries also come from a store and I find that online product availability and substitutions are worse than with Ocado.

Ocado is by far the best - I practically weep because they do not deliver to my new postcode! Waitrose is second best and has masses of things that Tesco does not stock. In the two years that I have been receiving home deliveries, only once have I had the folded arms attitude. That was from Tesco - who are now giving their delivery drivers body cams because of abuse from shoppers. What a foul world we now live in!

At one stage we found that Ocado no longer delivered to us, but they've reinstated deliveries now - keep an eye out, and perhaps contact their customer service people? I agree that they are by far the best.

Ocado - huge range and some excellent offers

I second Ocado. I ditched Asda for Ocado and haven't looked back.

Ocado are brilliant. £40 free delivery during the week if you buy their £24 six month smart pass. Rarely substitute, have a great range and orices are much keener than they used to be.

Tesco are going down the pan. After many, many years, I am ditching them and going with Ocado. You’d better watch it, Tesco! We are not fools and will vote with our feet!

£1 and £2 slots available from Sainsbury's and no signing up. £40 spend. Worth a look.

I have Asda and they always have the goods I order in stock. I find their delivery drivers always helpful and polite.

Today I reviewed my Tesco order due for delivery on Tuesday, as usual.
Each month I pay a "plan" £4.99 for delivery plus an excess charge of £5 if I order less than £50 of goods-there's only me and the cat!
I have delivery because of mobility problems plus problems carrying weight (enough problems with my own weight!)
Service very efficient, staff really cheery and helpful.
Today I noticed another 2 items no longer made by Tesco (either that or sold in shop only) their own bleach and biological washing liquid.
Sorely tempted to stop delivery but unsure what to do instead, can others advise?

I had similar issues with the same supermarket a while back. Stuff was missing or the delivery was cancelled.
I emailed the CEO of the company within a few days everything was sorted out and I was given points on my loyalty card and free delivery.
Google the CEO address and contact them .
Mostly they are oblivious to any problems down the line !

Quite a few things going, or just not available from your local store. There is an opportunity on the order to complain.

I was in store, and they have removed their own brand curry paste. Patak changed to a spice paste some years ago and it is horrid. You can buy sauce, but they are all full of sugars.

Lost their beef slices (only best version now) but I expected that given the huge price rise in beef

Waitrose annual delivery pass costs approx. £7 a month, and you could have an order delivered every day. Minimum spend is £40. Also, each week there are several vouchers for 50p or £1 to reduce the price of items you buy regularly; this offsets the delivery cost of less than £2 a week, and they have now introduced 'little treats' - you can have a free item most weeks, like mince pies, or a special ground coffee. The drivers are helpful and will carry shopping through to the kitchen.

I recommend Ocado. The choice is vast and they do M&S food. Delivery has always been excellent and the delivery drivers always bring the shopping in and put it on my kitchen counter for me.

I still find Tesco delivery mostly ok. Just an issue with a couple of silly use by dates recently, e.g. - a loaf delivered on the 7th with a use by date of the 8th.
I pay £2.50 once a fortnight under the four hour slot plan. Can't manage to spend £50 per week so i go shopping for just light fresh stuff alternating with the delivery.

PS. Most delivery men are very helpful I find.

They proceeded to chat with each other while I struggled with one bag at a time and my stick. It's the last time I ordered from them

I do love Ocado- theyre the only ones that still use bags and if you hand any bags back they knock bag cost off shopping.(iceland do provide bags but i dont think they refund them) A lot of their stuff are prices same as other supermarkets now- obviously a few more obscure items that are unique to Ocado are dearer but the quality is good and they do sell M&S items too. I like waitrose as well and they do pricematch a lot with other shops now.Cant afford these two shops always but you can get things in these that others dont stock also they have very friendly staff.Who offer to help.

Dont get me started on Tesco beef- i got some cooked deli sandwich beef slices instore couple of weeks ago- had good shelf life and i opened it with 2 days left on use by date only to spend the whole of the weekend with food poisoning which was definitely the beef slices as only i had it and son was fine- i was so bad he called 111 who sent paramedics (in case it was something else) but after an hour they agreed was food poisoning and advised what to do, then left. I spent 2 days being ill. I have often seen out of date items in our local bigger Tescos still on shelves and let them know.They dont seem bothered.Then these same staff pick our online orders for us.Im going to stick to tesco express local or co-op for one or two bits we might need in future.And get big shops from either waitrose, Ocado or just go to an Aldi.

If you don't have a large Morrisons near you then Morrisons orders are processed by Ocado and come in bags like Ocado orders. Both Morrisons and Ocado have minimum orders of £40 and you can buy a midweek pass (Tuesday to Thursday) for a lot less than a 7 day pass. I have a Morrisons pass this year which I think cost me only £40 for the year for as many deliveries as I wish. Both charge 10p per bag but this is refunded if the bags are returned to the driver (same bags so if you order from both it doesn't matter which bags you return).

Some Co-op stores also do home delivery and this is ideal for smaller households as their minimum order is just £15, plus delivery from £1.99. If you register and are a member but don't order for a while they may offer you free delivery. You can order online or through an app. Of course the range is much smaller than for the big supermarkets, and you still run the risk of an item being out of stock, but you can usually get all the basics. I used to use the local Co-op for top-up shops for my mother and because it's a small local store you get the same driver(s) and get to know them.

Gogo84 That is contrary to Tesco policy. They are supposed to be helpful to customers, particularly older ones, and all of those who have delivered to me have carried the order in and unpacked it. I hope you mentioned it to the store manager.

After 20 years of Tesco delivery I switched to Sainsbury's and their customer service is so much better.

It takes a little while to get your favourites set up but worth the effort. £40minimum spend.

I occasionally use Ocado to buy M&S stuff but they are significantly more expensive for everything.

Tesco are obviously on the make and forcing online shoppers into buying higher priced items. The latest Supermarket racket.

Someone should get in touch with Rip.Off Britain etc or Trading Standards. Consumer Groups. Etc.

I think Tesco and all the other supermarkets are on the make WithNobsOnIt - that is why they exist. It is up to us to make it work to our advantage and buy from somewhere else if we don't like it.

Another vote for Ocado here - I’ve been using them since they first started and I can’t fault them. If the items I purchased would have been cheaper in Tesco they refund the difference, usually it wouldn’t have been cheaper but this week I received £2.49.
I never have substitutions, drivers are always polite, friendly and helpful - just an excellent shopping delivery service.

i pay the monthly pass with morrisons, i only need to spend £25, i get an email before they arrive telling me of anything that is not in stock, i also use deliveroo for top up shops, i am also disabled and use a walker, so carrying a lot of shopping is difficult.
