Unilever, according to The Telegraph and The Guardian, have sold their foodstuffs division to the US manufacturer McCormick for approx. 44 billion.

Oh dear.

Bearing in mind the trashing of Cadbury's Dairy Milk when that was sold to an American outfit, how long before the shops will be stocking vanilla-flavoured Marmite with pistachio sprinkles?

Sorry but I heard some celebrity ( no idea who) talking about it on a cookery show and thought I am going to try that.

You get Marmite peanut butter now - it's actually quite good.

We like marmite and peanut butter sandwiches 🥪 😋 ...with lots of watercress or rocket in them.
Delicious.

This has been a travel favourite for nearly 50 years.

I love Marmite but it’s changed over the many years I’ve been eating it. It used to be more like a paste, which you could have held upside-down on your knife. Now it’s sticky and more like golden syrup, leaving long threads between jar and toast. It’s now messy, especially for children.

Mine's not like that. The Marmite I buy is still very thick and paste-like.

Mine too

Perhaps I should keep Marmite in the fridge so it might be more solid, less sloppy and sticky.

How hot is your house temperature? Do you keep the jar in a cupboard beside the fridge or CH boiler?

Like others the texture of marmite I buy is the same as it has always been.

I keep my Bovril in the fridge and always have to soak the top in some water to open it. I stocked up with two jars of Bovril today; should last me out as I only use a tiny bit with mince.

Bovril - I associate that with Billy Connolly jokes about football crowds . I don’t think I have ever actually tasted it.

I hope they don't mess with my Colmans Mustard. Nothing else compares

When the marmite is glooping from the end of the knife, I know if I rotate my knife 6 times that will be exactly right for one slice of toast.

I watched a Waitrose "Dish" video recently where someone said that marmite and watercress was their favourite sandwich filling, so clearly it's a thing. So I've just added watercress to next week's Sainsbury's delivery. I wonder if rocket would be the same? As I've got a packet.

Rocket (or watercress) marmite and peanut butter!

Yum.

I've prepared a mushroom and sundried tomato sauce for pasta for my dinner tonight.

All I want now is a marmite, peanut butter and rocket sandwich. hmm. Go away NotSpaghetti!
