Cox’s Apples Can’t seem to find any!

Is there a farm shop near you? That is where I get mine from and they are lovely

Please can anyone tell me whether it's still possible to by Discovery apples? Small and sweet and completely delicious. Haven't seen them for years.

I agree! No decent apples anywhere. Supermarkets just sell imported mush!
I know it’s difficult to get COXs out of season but there must be other UK brands?

I’ve never been a fan of Cox apples, all the ones I have had are soggy and a bit tasteless. My favourite variety is Jazz which have never let me down. I can get English ones in season.

Its a bit early for British apples; in about three weeks time there should be 'Discovery' and 'Fiesta' apples available and then 'Worcester Pearmain'. Currently apples in supermarkets will be imported ones. Pink Lady apples and Cripp's Pink apples are the same variety - if they are large and well coloured they are sold as Pink Lady - smaller ones and with less colouring they are sold as Cripp's Pink.

I really really miss not being able to buy British Victoria Plums when in season.
I love them when they're fully matured and the juice rolls down your chin (napkin a necessity!!)!

The black ones (often from Spain) are always hard and tasteless.

If I spot a tree in someone's garden I'll have to go scrumping!!

I grow plums on dwarfing rootstocks in a big pot as I don't have a garden now. They took a couple of years to fruit but have been great this year. I also grow damsons as you don't seem to be able to buy them at all now, fresh or tinned. At my last house I grew them against a wall, keeping the small tree to a "pickable" size and had great crops.
I agree that the bought plums are all pretty tasteless.

The only Coxes that I've been able to buy for the last few years have. been really tiny and hardly worth eating. We tend to buy Pink Ladies now, apparently they were specifically bred to be more nutritious though I don't like them so much myself.

Yes I agree- all bland!

DH likes them, but they are out of season in both hemispheres at the moment. He has Braeburns which are coming from NZ, and are very tasty, but this year they have been small.
I found a UK apple called Magic Star which is tasty, very similar and bigger - now his favourite.
We are lucky to have an orchard not far away that does so many different varieties but they have suffered from the long dry spell

Jazz apples are the best, small, crisp, juicy and sweet.
