Good morning all, I have tried to go a little easier on everyone today. wink

trisher Thu 16-Apr-20 14:39:59

Dancing is lots more fun than weeding. I'm thinking of doing painting as well. (better than maths or weeding!)

Callistemon Thu 16-Apr-20 14:42:16

I'm just lounging around outside now.

However, I could do with a chilled drink and a packet of choc digestives

aquagran Thu 16-Apr-20 14:52:40

148

Chewbacca Thu 16-Apr-20 15:16:35

So far we've got 36, 198, 148 and 138. Any more bids before Miss comes back in and catches Callistemon and Doodle messing about with the water tank and we all get detenshun?

Marydoll Thu 16-Apr-20 15:28:44

Waiting for willa, she is bound to have the correct answer.?

Callistemon Thu 16-Apr-20 15:28:46

We're all wrong
The answer is 92 trillion, 7 billion, 4 hundred thousand and 198

Callistemon Thu 16-Apr-20 15:30:28

Don't trip up, Miss
Someone has been passing string between the rows.

Who's going on the naughty step?

Chewbacca Thu 16-Apr-20 15:37:17

You Callistemon! Youve been putting chewing gum in Doodles hair when she was sat in front of you. ner ner na ner ner!

Bathsheba Thu 16-Apr-20 15:42:23

I don't think that's string, Callistemon, it's all the spaghetti left over from our sums.

Anyone got any nachos left? I didn't get any cos of being late in.

willa45 Thu 16-Apr-20 15:43:21

Hello again everyone! I hope I didn't miss too much... tried very hard this time to be on time. BTW....I figured out how to climb over that horrid gate. The issue is that my age, I would get stuck at the top, and then have to be rescued (fire trucks, ambulances, police, ropes etc.) Anyway, I would end up in a world of trouble.....OK, enough of that!

Re: Today's puzzle:

I had a go at it and came up with an answer.

Caveat: Due to recent instances of puzzle 'trickery', I found the first image on that last line (chips and 'salsa') to be highly suspect. (after all, there's no such thing as being too careful).....
grin

Very well then, assuming there is no mischief afoot, I stand behind my original answer, which is 36

Marydoll Thu 16-Apr-20 17:10:55

No tricks, as promised, in this question

The answer is 36

Thank you all for participating and not taking it too seriously.

??for everyone.

JoyBloggs Thu 16-Apr-20 17:16:40

36

JoyBloggs Thu 16-Apr-20 17:17:55

Oops, didn't refresh! Must pay attention in class blush

Callistemon Thu 16-Apr-20 17:48:01

Yes, but Miss, where's the plus sign?

trisher and I have alternative theories.
That's not fair, I think we're right, we should get apples, I think it was a trick question.

198

Doodle Thu 16-Apr-20 17:56:54

callistemon no arguing with Miss or you’ll be for it.
Hello willa nice to see you. Can you help me get this chewing gum out of my hair please. That callistemon really ? ouch!! Miiiissss

Callistemon Thu 16-Apr-20 17:57:46

I'll cut it out for you ~Doodle

My word, it really is stuck, isn't it, I may have to get the shaver!

trisher Thu 16-Apr-20 18:15:47

Well she can't go to the hairdresser!
I agree with you Callistemon. There should be a + sign and brackets!
Ooh I think your hand slipped!! Don't worry Doodle I'm sure it will look great hmm

Marydoll Thu 16-Apr-20 18:20:00

Trisher, could please explain what you mean by + and ( )?

I'm confused.?

trisher Thu 16-Apr-20 18:49:10

If the nachos are 9 two of them standing next to each other can be 99 which makes it 99x2. To get 36 you need to add 9 and 9. But if you want to do that there should be brackets so you do the addition first. BODMAS you know.
I'm over thinking this aren't I? blush
I like dancing and painting better than maths anyway.

Marydoll Thu 16-Apr-20 19:09:15

Thanks, I see where you are coming from now Trisher.

It was meant to be a simple calculation, as some posters thought the previous questions were too difficult. I did say, that I was giving posters an easier time.

I thought, as the other numbers in the puzzle were low, that posters would realise that, it wasn't a difficult level.
Also, I usually hint, when BODMAS is involved.
Erroneously, I expected my class to read my mind and know that I wasn't trying to trick.?

However, your solution is perfectly valid. Trisher and Callistemon, for you.?
It does demonstrate, however, that our perceptions of and approach to solving problems, can be very different.

What have I learned from this? Be very precise and allow for all interpretations.?

willa45 Thu 16-Apr-20 19:45:27

Chewing gum Doodle? Really? Hmmm.....I've heard freezing works very well (gum hardens then combs out in small pieces). If you can hold your head in the freezer long enough, problem solved. A good pair of scissors will also do the trick (your hair, not your head)! ............... Oh, I love this thread! grin

Chewbacca Thu 16-Apr-20 19:51:41

Me! Me! I'll put Doodle's head in the freezer! How many days do I keep her in there for willa?

Marydoll Thu 16-Apr-20 19:53:20

For as long as possible, PLEEEEZ! ?

trisher Thu 16-Apr-20 19:55:40

Too late willa45 *Callistemon just did a Bruce Willis with the shavers. Don't worry Doodle it will grow!

Pantglas2 Thu 16-Apr-20 20:14:10

Tee hee! Doodle looks just like that painting by Edvard Munch.....and now she’s screaming! Tee hee! Oops Miss is coming.... quick, hide!
