Welcome to the Fourth Thread, Questioners and Answerers!

Are you feeling Autumnal?

Mollygo Mon 01-Nov-21 09:03:12

Captain Corelli’s Mandolin!
Gone Girl. Both nearly read.

Have you packed your summer clothes away yet?

FannyCornforth Mon 01-Nov-21 09:08:44

I couldn’t get anywhere with Gone Girl either.
I’m in the process of clothes sorting. My bedroom is chaos.

What is your favourite item of clothing?

hollysteers Mon 01-Nov-21 10:07:15

An old friend, a River Island sandy coloured full length woollen winter coat with a hood with fur round it and also the cuffs.

What is your go to outfit when you can’t decide and you know will work, whatever.
(Pinafore dress with either silk blouse or polo neck sweater underneath)

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 01-Nov-21 11:25:14

I've got a couple of t-shirts with an asymmetric neckline which work with most things.

Is there an item of clothing which you've always hankered after? I've always wanted a smart trouser-suit but as many of us are more casual these days I think it'd look out of place.

AGAA4 Mon 01-Nov-21 16:11:31

A cashmere jumper or cardigan but they are quite expensive.
You should get your trouser suit. I think anything goes now from very smart to very casual.

Do you have lots of framed photos of family in your house?

BBbevan Mon 01-Nov-21 16:52:04

Yes, my most treasured is of us all when we went on a cruise for our 50 wedding anniversary..

Do you have any photographs of your Grandparents or even further back.?

hollysteers Tue 02-Nov-21 10:54:35

Paternal grandfather on horseback, just widowed maternal grandmother in her 40s (11 children). Nothing further back.

What “minor” ailments do you have which give you the pip?
(Bad back, IBS)

biglouis Wed 03-Nov-21 09:36:41

I pulled a muscle in my knee a few months back and it doesnt seem to be healing. Im still walking with a stick.

Have you ever had a blocked loo that you managed to unblock yourself?

I always try googling solutions before I shell out for a plumber. Its amazing what you can do with a plunger, a polythene bag and a pair of rubber gloves.

DanniRae Wed 03-Nov-21 10:27:37

I had a blocked loo blush and, in desperation, ordered a loo unblocker from Amazon. It arrived very quickly and was amazing. It's sort of like the one I have for the sink but much bigger and works by pumping large amounts of water down the pan.

Is your loo in the bathroom? Does this cause problems? Ours is but, luckily, we have one downstairs too.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Wed 03-Nov-21 12:22:19

Yes, a loo in the upstairs bathroom and also one downstairs like yours DanniRae which is a Godsend. I found it a problem when staying with a friend which only had one loo for the entire house of five people.

Do you ever take part in surveys for money? Do you tell fibs in these?

grandMattie Wed 03-Nov-21 16:01:10

No and no.

Do you like globe artichokes?

AGAA4 Wed 03-Nov-21 16:09:59

Yes but eat them rarely.

Do you keep a careful watch on your accounts?

crazyH Wed 03-Nov-21 16:37:21

Yes - I try to enter my daily expenses in my diary. I circle payments made by credit card , a little line under anything I pay by bank card and presume the rest are cash payments. I also have a spreadsheet for large amounts gifted to children or grandchildren. I like to think I am fairly organised.

Question: Are you like me ☝️?

BBbevan Wed 03-Nov-21 16:46:43

No not really. I check our bank statement online fairly regularly but that is all.

Do you have scented candles at home, and if so in which room?

crazyH Wed 03-Nov-21 17:08:01

Yes - kitchen

If you have muscular pain, do you take antiinflammatories, or use a topical cream like Deepfreeze etc

Mollygo Wed 03-Nov-21 17:18:54

Phorpain is great for topical use. I used it on my shoulder. Otherwise I take paracetamol, brufen or Naproxen.

Have you noticed a lot of flies around at the moment? 2 flew into the kitchen today.

FannyCornforth Thu 04-Nov-21 06:27:09

Not now, but definitely a week or two ago, the house was full of them, and some really nasty looking wasps too.

Come Dine with Me menu - what’s yours?

DanniRae Thu 04-Nov-21 08:16:54

I'm going 'posh' for this so not my usual stuff:

Heinz Tomato Soup
Fish cake, spaghetti hoops and instant mash
Angel delight - a choice of two flavours - strawberry or banana
Tea to drink
I feel I can't go wrong with these choices confused

Perhaps now someone could post a proper "Come Dine With Me" Menu!!

FannyCornforth Thu 04-Nov-21 09:34:18

That’s brilliant Danni! Sounds right up my street, although I do favour butterscotch angel delight! smile

hollysteers Thu 04-Nov-21 11:48:57

Fruits de Mare in puff pastry
Fillet steak
Profiteroles/Pavlova with black cherries and warm cream

Do you have lipstick, powder etc in your handbag when you go out?
(I do)

BBbevan Thu 04-Nov-21 12:13:01

No, it’s all in a bag in my bedside table.

Do you put more makeup on when you are out ?

AGAA4 Thu 04-Nov-21 15:12:55

I only use tinted lip salve and occasionally a flash balm.

Would you like a complete makeover to a room in your house and if so which room?

Mollygo Thu 04-Nov-21 18:00:10

Yes, our kitchen. There’s nothing wrong with it, but I love a new kitchen.

Have the fireworks started near you yet? The Uni has a big display tonight and I’ll be watching, at the same time as I ask myself how they can afford it?

BBbevan Thu 04-Nov-21 19:52:59

None as yet but may be some on the beach or near the harbour tomorrow.

Do you like fireworks. I find them boring now and I get a stiff neck.?

biglouis Fri 05-Nov-21 02:36:34

Ive always hated fireworks and would gladly see them banned for general use except for official displays.

Have you been buying more food to beat christmas price rises/shortages?

I only have a small freezer and I keep it fully stocked. Some of my food has found its way into my nephews big chest freezer.
