Welcome to the Fourth Thread, Questioners and Answerers!

Are you feeling Autumnal?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 22-Nov-21 15:56:27

Yes, I won £100 in a building society prize draw.

Do you play the lotto - ever won anything?

ginny Mon 22-Nov-21 17:00:18

Played the very first week and won £10.00. Never played since.

Do you belong to club of any kind ?
I belong to the WI and several different craft clubs.

crazyH Mon 22-Nov-21 20:59:22

Yes, the 50+ Community Group. Have no time for anything else. Would have lived to join the Scrabble group, but the meet in the evenings. And I hate driving in the night.

Do you do much night driving ?

biglouis Tue 23-Nov-21 01:12:40

I dont drive so never!

Are you planning to spend or entertain less this holiday?

I dont observe christmas and havnt bothered since the 1970s. Saves a lot of expense.

BBbevan Tue 23-Nov-21 05:16:17

No we have our son and his family coming this year. We haven't seen them for two years ...so no expense spared.

Do you have turkey, or goose or something else for Christmas lunch?

NotAGran55 Tue 23-Nov-21 06:12:25

Nut roast . I’ve never eaten turkey or goose even before I stopped eating meat at 18.

Do you, or did you enjoy social events at work?
Just received an email about a Garden Party in the summer and dreading it already.

grandMattie Tue 23-Nov-21 07:06:01

Never, ever. When young and optimistic,I used to look forwards to them, then hated every second…

Do you enjoy restaurant Christmas meals? I always find them overcooked and overrated.

FannyCornforth Tue 23-Nov-21 07:35:33

I’ve only had a couple, I think.
I do love a carvery though, despite not eating meat. Loads of roast potatoes and Yorkshire’s (I’m a bit carb mad).
I used to really enjoy my school’s (where I worked) Christmas dinners. ‘Such fun!’ as they say.

Is there anything that you miss about work, if you don’t work anymore?

FannyCornforth Tue 23-Nov-21 07:39:15

Oh, I realise that I’ve sort of copied NotaGran’s post. It seems that we have quite a bit in common, both vegetarian ‘Autumns’.
I’m already ‘school friends’ with Bbbevan, when she’s not gazing at the pictures of Kenneth Thingummy that she’s stuck on her English book hmm

FannyCornforth Tue 23-Nov-21 07:40:44

I hated social events at work too. In fact it was well known that I never went on them.

AGAA4 Tue 23-Nov-21 08:05:29

Just the companionship of different people. I used to see a lot of people during a day at work.

Did you make special friends at work who you are still in touch with?

nanna8 Tue 23-Nov-21 08:11:05

Yes, still in touch with a couple of them 14 years on.

What is your favourite soft drink, apart from water ?

Mollygo Tue 23-Nov-21 09:48:01

Grapefruit juice, tomato juice or something like Appletise. I don’t like stuff you add water to though I do occasionally add soda water to grapefruit in summer to make a long cold drink.

When I was younger, the swimming baths provided hot Oxo, Bovril or Vimto when we finished swimming. Does anyone else remember that?

ginny Tue 23-Nov-21 10:16:34

Yes, I remember although I didn’t like them. I enjoy hot blackcurrant.

I’m just off to our local ‘refill’ shop. No packaging. Do you ever shop at a one of these ?

AGAA4 Tue 23-Nov-21 13:37:51

We don't have one here but I went to the one near where my daughter lives and was impressed. She uses it regularly.

Have you noticed everywhere getting busier now we are only s mont away from Christmas? Took me ages to get into town today.

AGAA4 Tue 23-Nov-21 13:38:31

* a month*

BBbevan Tue 23-Nov-21 13:49:05

That made me laugh Fanny
Nearly finished writing book two. Mr. Christensen is still very much to the fore.

Terrible lot of traffic here. We Were on the M4 last week, just like a race track.
Just off to the dentist. Do you go regularly ?

Mollygo Tue 23-Nov-21 17:25:00

Yes, the dentist rings me to remind me. It’s not such a frightening experience as it used to be when I was a child.

Do you think putting a Christmas tree up early is an indication of your class? Evidently on MN this is a big topic.

DanniRae Tue 23-Nov-21 19:10:55

No...it's an indication that you like Christmas trees!

Do you have a real Christmas tree...we don't because I hate the idea of a young tree being cut down...decorated and adored for a few weeks...then chucked out for the dustmen to dispose of. sad
I know I sound a bit crazy over this but it's how I feel.

AGAA4 Tue 23-Nov-21 19:56:50

Not crazy. I am on my own so just have a tiny artificial tree and a few decorations.

Do you put up many decorations?

Shinamae Tue 23-Nov-21 21:27:41

None at all

Do you think you would find it easy to go vegetarian because I am seriously thinking of doing that

hollysteers Wed 24-Nov-21 03:35:53

Yes I think I would as eat a lot of fish and not much meat.
I do enjoy a steak now and again however, I would miss that.

The first six emojis which come up explain your life right now.
What are they?
(❤️??????)

Mollygo Wed 24-Nov-21 17:59:22

??????

Mollygo Wed 24-Nov-21 18:00:50

I’m driving to choir tonight. The weather is appalling. Would you go or cry off?

AGAA4 Wed 24-Nov-21 18:52:45

Tricky one. I would probably stay at home unless I had missed too many sessions.

Do you watch much TV?
