Welcome to the Fourth Thread, Questioners and Answerers!

Are you feeling Autumnal?

BBbevan Sun 19-Sept-21 18:30:02

Silence mostly.

Are you watching any box sets at the o?

crazyH Sun 19-Sept-21 18:07:36

No. I lived just a 5 minute walk from the school, so went for lunch.

Do you prefer watching TV or listening to music, when you’re working in the kitchen?

TillyTrotter Sun 19-Sept-21 16:35:06

* boy, not buy

TillyTrotter Sun 19-Sept-21 16:34:36

I had a Sindy doll, and a Tiny Tears doll in a pink romper suit (they came in pink or blue check - very stereotypical girl/buy).

My older sister had a lovely china-face doll called Betty, but she would not let me play with it. If she wasn’t playing with it she got mum to put Betty on a high shelf in a cupboard I couldn’t reach.

Did you have school dinners? What did you think of them?

FannyCornforth Sun 19-Sept-21 15:09:44

Ha ha, that’s a good one!
Citalopram
Naproxen
Tramodol
Pregabalin

The last two are controlled drugs

Do you remember the names of any of your childhood toys?
I had two posh dolls which I didn’t play with called Annabelle and Charmaine.
I didn’t like dolls!

crazyH Sun 19-Sept-21 12:29:58

I was the youngest of 9 children. The difference in age between my immediate older brother and myself was about 8 years. I was treated as the ‘baby’ of the family. So I guess, I got on well with my siblings, although I didn’t ‘grow up’ with most of them.

How many medications are on your repeat prescription list? I have 3, which I take daily. - my BP tablets, my Asthma inhaler and Eczema cream

ninathenana Sun 19-Sept-21 12:18:00

Not when face to face but sometimes when talking about them.

My previous question which went unanswered. Did/do you get on with any siblings you may have ?

Juliet27 Sun 19-Sept-21 09:34:15

Yes, I read a wonderful wildlife book written by Phil Drabble (of past One Man and His Dog fame) and wrote to tell him how much I’d enjoyed it. I had a lovely reply from him.

Do you have trouble remembering people’s names. I’d be useless on Pointless!

DanniRae Sun 19-Sept-21 07:30:29

When "Pride and Prejudice" was on tv in 1995 I became obsessed with Colin Firth (as Mr Darcy). I got it in my head that he lived near me and that I would bump into him in my local park. I wrote to him - a fan letter I suppose - and months later I received a thank you letter back and a signed photo I put it in a frame and have it still, somewhere!

Have you ever written a 'fan' letter to someone?

FannyCornforth Sun 19-Sept-21 04:31:01

No dancing ability, I’m afraid.
Walking is a stretch at the moment.

Have you ever been addicted to anything, or felt that you were close to being addicted?

Florida12 Sat 18-Sept-21 20:03:43

No, I don’t think my eyes are up to it really. If I drive to my son’s house, it’s down country lanes, there are so many potholes. If I try to avoid them there is always a chance that someone coming the other way has the same idea. Too nerve wracking at my age.

Does anyone else get the mad urge to take up dancing as soon as Strictly starts, or have any of you been champion Latino type dancers?

crazyH Sat 18-Sept-21 19:53:16

Same question to the next person

crazyH Sat 18-Sept-21 19:51:54

Until recently, I didn’t mind, but after a horrible experience, I try not to drive after dark.
Returning from my daughter’s house, a route I use almost daily, I decided to turn into a little shopping centre (I think they call it a strip mall in the USA), to pick up a pint of milk. Got it, went back to the car, reversed out of the car park, drove forward, and then, completely lost my bearings. The lights all around me completely baffled me. I had to ring my daughter, who came and rescued me. I followed her car out to the main road and thus, found my way home. This is now a family joke ?
I then decided, I would avoid night driving.

AGAA4 Sat 18-Sept-21 19:34:25

A drink in a quiet country pub sitting by a log fire.

Do you like driving after dark?

hollysteers Sat 18-Sept-21 18:41:41

Yes, a long time ago, an amazing achievement for one so young.
I like reading classics and am currently reading Edith Wharton “The Reef”.

If dating, what would your perfect first date consist of?

TillyTrotter Sat 18-Sept-21 17:32:30

Julie Walters “That’s Another Story” autobiography.

Next one: “Us Three” by Ruth Jones.

Have you read Wuthering Heights? Or another classic?

FannyCornforth Sat 18-Sept-21 17:29:39

Cross post Holly, I see we’re both postcard fans!
I used to use lipliner in the eighties, but I don’t put anything on my lips other than lip balm now

FannyCornforth Sat 18-Sept-21 17:27:53

Texts and birthday (etc) cards with messages
I used to be a big fan of the postcard - personal, but you were limited to how much you could write

(Skirts are much better than trousers in my book!)

Speaking of books, which was the last one that you read?
And what is your next read going to be?

hollysteers Sat 18-Sept-21 17:27:17

I love writing letters, but don’t do it so often now. However I send lots of postcards to older housebound friends who are not on the internet.

Do you outline your lips with a lip pencil?

TillyTrotter Sat 18-Sept-21 16:20:39

Definitely you are not too old for such a classic skirt. With warm tights and boots it will make a great outfit.

I like corduroy skirts in winter.

Do you still hand-write letters , or send more e mails?

henetha Sat 18-Sept-21 10:41:06

I was meeting my youngest grandchild but she has just cancelled as she's not well. Not sure what to do now.

Even if you prefer wearing trousers do you ever wear skirts in the winter? I have a fancy for a checked skirt with warm black tights and ankle boots. Am I too old?

biglouis Sat 18-Sept-21 09:31:48

None, except to rehome the dog!

Any treats planned for the weekend?

I am planning a quiet lazy one.

Mollygo Sat 18-Sept-21 08:04:25

Some we do ourselves, but the pleasure and relief of having a lady decorate our hall and stairs was so great, I’d do it again!

Brown patches on the lawn thanks to the dog? Lots of adverts, but any tried and tested suggestions?

NotAGran55 Sat 18-Sept-21 07:49:18

I like grocery shopping and never have it delivered.

Do you do your own decorating or employ a firm to do it ?

BBbevan Sat 18-Sept-21 05:08:59

Other than binoculars , no

Do you go to the shops or have your groceries delivered?
