Hello again and Merry Christmas Questioners and Answerers!?

Not ‘what is the best present that you have received?’, instead;

What is the best present that you have given?
Are you a good gifter?

(I’m going to have to think about it, but I do think that I’m rather good at choosing presents)

AGAA4 Mon 14-Feb-22 19:42:15

Yes I am happy on my own as long as I have some company now and then.

Which genre of book do you prefer?

BBbevan Mon 14-Feb-22 20:15:50

Historical I think, followed by crime.

Did you ever smoke as a teenager or beyond?

crazyH Mon 14-Feb-22 21:24:02

No

Do you regularly go out for Sunday Lunch?

hollysteers Tue 15-Feb-22 00:07:08

No, but I do go out for meals as often as I can.

Did you get a Valentines card?

FannyCornforth Tue 15-Feb-22 04:09:37

I did, but I bought it myself!
DH.can’t get out easily or use the internet. I also made one with the dog on from Moonpig.
This is the photo I used. She looks a bit of a mess as she is long overdue a trip to the groomers.

FannyCornforth Tue 15-Feb-22 04:11:20

What do you do with spiders in the house?
I either ignore them or put them out of the window, carefully ?

nanna8 Tue 15-Feb-22 04:34:26

You have to be a bit careful here because some are very poisonous. The great big huntsmen I sometimes catch in a jar and put outside. The rest I shriek and run away and get someone else to deal with!

nanna8 Tue 15-Feb-22 04:35:25

Is there a creature/insect you particularly detest?
With me it's cockroaches, can't stand them in any circumstances.

FannyCornforth Tue 15-Feb-22 04:54:14

nanna8 yes, it’s a complete different ball game with insects where you are! My DH used to live in South Africa, and they had huge flying beetles there

Millipedes give me the willies.
It’s not just the legs, it’s the weird black shiny segments. Shudder!

I’m actually a bit embarrassed to say it though, as I don’t like to say that I dislike any creatures.
I’m a big wuss aren’t I.

If you went to a zoo ( a hypothetical one ) which animals would you go to see first?
We used to go to Twycross regularly. My absolute favourite was the World of Miniature Monkeys; little tamarind monkeys and emperor monkeys. Magical little creatures ♥️

BBbevan Tue 15-Feb-22 06:41:40

Elephants. We once lived near Whipsnade so spent a lot of time there with the GDs.

It is getting lighter in the morning and the birds are singing. Does that please you?

biglouis Tue 15-Feb-22 10:27:45

Yes because it shows me that spring will be here soon.

If you could own any pet what would it be?

I would love a whole crowd of tortoises. Ive always thought them to be excellent pets. They dont make a noise and you dont have to take them for walks.

FannyCornforth Tue 15-Feb-22 10:47:38

Oh goodness! What wouldn’t I want!
I’d love to have some guinea pigs again.
Rats too.
I’d love a donkey or two.
Miniature goats! ?
More dogs, if I won the lottery and had a lot of room I’d love a Tibetan Mastiff.
They are so affectionate. I met some at Crufts and they were gorgeous.
A little snub nose snake.
An aquarium with turtles.
An axolotl.
A Norwegian Forest Cat.

You get the picture!

What is your favourite gadget?

hollysteers Tue 15-Feb-22 11:11:13

My nutribullet, I’m not mad on salads or fruit in the winter, so make healthy smoothies.

Did you have any storm damage from the last storms?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 15-Feb-22 11:17:50

Not from the most recent, touch wood, but last year my shed was blown over onto its front (door underneath) so that a couple of strong nephews had to lift it for me so that it could be emptied and then moved to a less vulnerable position so that it was less likely to catch the wind. If I'd gone out to the dustbin a few minutes earlier I could have been underneath it.

Have you had a similar narrow escape?

AGAA4 Tue 15-Feb-22 16:28:28

Not quite the same but on a very cold windy day I went into the shed and the door blew shut and jammed. I couldn't open it and was calling for help but as the shed was not near the road nobody heard me. I was cold and it was going dark. I looked round the shed and found a rusty old spade. I eventually managed to lever it open. As I live alone nobody would have noticed for a while that I was not around. Scary.

Have you had a frightening experience?

BBbevan Thu 17-Feb-22 02:43:42

Only when I look in the mirror.

Are you all ready for storm Eunice?. Dudley seems to have passed by quietly.

FannyCornforth Thu 17-Feb-22 06:10:40

I don’t know what to expect to be honest.
We haven’t had much here either, thankfully.

Do you think that the Royal Family are going to survive all the current scandals?
I think that it’s looking quite worrying for them

hollysteers Thu 17-Feb-22 12:47:05

Yes, although I’m a tepid republican and feel its days should be numbered. Eventually I think there will be a resurgence of affection for William and Kate, but not sure of the reception for Charles and Camilla.
I have a republican head and a monarchist’s heart.

Do you enjoy going to art exhibitions?

AGAA4 Thu 17-Feb-22 12:51:44

Yes but I am always tempted to buy something but they are too expensive mostly.

What time of day do you like the best?

Mollygo Thu 17-Feb-22 13:06:56

Either early morning in the summer when it’s light and often warmer, or evenings at any time of year.

Did you ever read Uncle Tom’s Cabin? Would you ever read it again?

henetha Thu 17-Feb-22 13:12:42

Yes, I am pretty sure I read it many years ago. No, I have no wish to read it again.

Are you good at making decisions? I am trying to make quite an important one at the moment and I'm useless.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 17-Feb-22 16:17:08

I hate making decisions as I let life just drift along with me in its wake, unless I really have to do something.

What is the best decision you have ever made?

AGAA4 Thu 17-Feb-22 16:31:47

My best decision was to move from my big 4 bedroom old house to a 2 bedroom flat. The house was costing too much for me in upkeep.

Do you enjoy birdsong in the morning?

BBbevan Thu 17-Feb-22 16:58:38

Yes it’s just starting. Love it.

Do you do one big wash every week, or like me several small ones?

henetha Fri 18-Feb-22 11:28:02

I just do the washing when the mood takes me. Or when the laundry basket is overflowing!.

What is your un-favourite kind of weather? Mine is this horrible wind.
