Hello again and Merry Christmas Questioners and Answerers!?

Not ‘what is the best present that you have received?’, instead;

What is the best present that you have given?
Are you a good gifter?

(I’m going to have to think about it, but I do think that I’m rather good at choosing presents)

Mollygo Sun 23-Jan-22 23:02:27

Not sure what that is and too lazy to Google. We had great fun doing our version of Jackson Pollock at school, but it was more splashing than pouring and very messy.

Are there squirrels near where you live? Suddenly I’m seeing them everywhere when I walk the dog.

Ali08 Sun 23-Jan-22 22:05:45

Not a course, but we did try it at high school.
We were making houses. My wall fell down!

Have you ever tried 'paint pouring'?

BBbevan Sun 23-Jan-22 19:05:35

Well I have two aunts still alive. One of 90 the other 95. So I suppose I answer yes.

Just waiting for ‘Pottery Throwdown’. Have you ever taken a pottery course.? I did it at art school but can’t say I enjoyed it.

hollysteers Sun 23-Jan-22 17:47:23

No giving up, since covid, life has been miserable enough.

Do you come from a line of long livers (living a long life)
(I don’t…)

AGAA4 Sun 23-Jan-22 16:39:14

I have given up giving up so often that I don't bother now.

Interesting question so same one again please.

Mollygo Sun 23-Jan-22 12:30:37

Usually I give up chocolate or sweet things, but I eat so little of those now. I thought about giving up buying Costa or Starbucks to drink on the way home from work and donating the savings to a charity.

I’d love to know what others are doing, if anything, so same question.

BBbevan Sun 23-Jan-22 11:17:33

I make’ End of week soup’. Whatever is left in the veg drawer, plus lentils. Usually comes out fine but I did make a very unappetising one which was khaki. Too much spinach!

Do you give up anything for Lent? Which is on the horizon

henetha Sun 23-Jan-22 11:04:24

Yay. Since my last relationship ended I've had several holidays alone. Without exception they were all lovely and I made friends easily. Travelling alone has never bothered me, and I like doing what I want to do instead of fitting in with other's wishes. I'm itching to go somewhere this year.

Do you make your own soup? If so, what recipes can you recommend? I'd like a change from the carrot and coriander, or potato and leek which I often make.

FannyCornforth Sun 23-Jan-22 09:36:33

I have your question lots of thought AGA
I wouldn’t now because I couldn’t be capable physically, and my confidence isn’t great
But I hope that I would in the future.
I like my own company, but couldn’t go totally alone.
I know that they divide opinion, but I would rather like to go on a cruise on my own.

Same question please! Solo holidays - yay or nay?

AGAA4 Sun 23-Jan-22 09:28:10

I found reunions disappointing. People change and I had too so didn't enjoy them much.

Would you go on holiday alone?

FannyCornforth Sun 23-Jan-22 05:19:36

Ocado, Amazon, all shopping ones really. Audible too. Banking. Nothing interesting

Have you ever been to a School Reunion?
I absolutely loved school, but it’s the stuff of nightmares for me

CraftyGranny Sat 22-Jan-22 18:56:50

The Block app. I am sick of scam calls.

Same question please

biglouis Sat 22-Jan-22 15:43:57

Yes but I dont move them to different rooms.

Which apps do you use most often on your phone?

Mine are my cctv cameras and the BBC news site. I also use Ebay and other bidding sites quite a bit.

Mollygo Sat 22-Jan-22 12:38:57

Yes, when an initiative I had started won an award. I made sure I was surrounded/swamped by those who had benefited as I hate having my photo taken.

Do you rotate rugs to stop them getting worn down in one place?

FannyCornforth Sat 22-Jan-22 12:21:36

No grandchildren or indeed children here ( Ali but I am not a man either btwwink)

Have you ever been a little tiny bit famous? (Eg picture in the local paper, briefly on TV etc)

Ali08 Sat 22-Jan-22 12:07:59

Yes. Homegrown tomatoes are lovely. We used to grow plants by putting the roots in water. Potatoes etc. But I've lost my green finger now!

What do your grandchildren call you? I'm grandma, occasionally grandermar, which was a slip up by my eldest granddaughter one day who got her tongue in a twist. Like my mum, I've never liked nanny as, in her words, nannies are paid staff, but nana would've been acceptable!

AGAA4 Sat 22-Jan-22 12:00:30

Yes. I potted a grapefruit seed and it grew. It produced a tiny grapefruit the size of a baby tomato.

Do you grow your own herbs? I used to have a herb wheel when I had a garden.

henetha Sat 22-Jan-22 11:43:10

No, not since I lived here. I did at my last house.
I'm paranoid about this anyway and have two alarms and check them regularly.

Have you ever grown things from seeds or pips, or stones?
I've got a lemon tree growing, and another smaller one.

Mollygo Fri 21-Jan-22 17:32:58

Loved my automatic but swapped back to manual when I got a new car.

Do you get offers from the Fire Brigade to come and fit smoke alarms?

BBbevan Fri 21-Jan-22 15:11:14

No, and the main road to Carmarthen is very narrow and like a switchback ride. Hate it.

Do you have an automatic or manual car ? We got an automatic several years ago as DH has ‘wonky’ knees

lovebeigecardigans1955 Fri 21-Jan-22 14:08:59

Not that bad, I've mentioned this before - when on a driving lesson on the country lanes of Devon a young man was tailgating very closely, he obviously thought I wasn't going fast enough. He overtook dangerously by a bend and a few corners later he'd been stopped by the police and had to endure a telling-off.

Do you enjoy driving down narrow country lanes in the countryside?

AGAA4 Fri 21-Jan-22 12:05:01

Not a fan but RIP Meatloaf.

Have you ever suffered road rage? A friend did and she was terrified. She knew she had mad a mistake by pulling out too soon but put her hand up in the "I'm sorry" position but the man behind chased her almost on her bumper for 3 miles even though no damage was done to him or his car. She pulled into a petrol station and he followed and subjected her to angry abuse.

henetha Fri 21-Jan-22 10:33:12

No. And I often read on my Kindle anyway. Although I still go to the library regularly. As long as the covers are clean, that's ok. I read a lot.

Did you like Meatloaf's music?

hollysteers Fri 21-Jan-22 10:00:10

Thea in Willa Cather’s Song of a Lark. Read it when I was 16 and it summed up all my hopes.

Are you fussy about the cover of the book you are reading?
(I am)

BBbevan Fri 21-Jan-22 06:30:13

Sorry forgot question

Do you have any literary heroines you identify with.? Jane Eyre for me I think.
