My nails need a lot of attention nowadays for some reason.

Sitting at the kitchen island reading through this thread and wishing I was on the beach with Queenslander and friends.

Laying in bed wondering why I can't get to sleep, also wondering if my soon-to-be 12 y/o granddaughter is still awake, too?
She had belly ache and I made her a hot water bottle, tucked her in and she asked to watch Netflix on her phone. Surely she'll be asleep now...maybe...

Lying in bed reading this and roughly planning my day.

Trying to summon up the energy/will power to go and make carrot soup which I intended to do yesterday. I bought too many carrots.

Having a coffee ( or two) while watching today's Jeremy Vine which I had recorded .

cooking bacon, I am trying to get an army of teenage boys out of bed before their parents start turning up

Trying to get the log burner to stay alight. I never know whether to push the damper in or out.

Sitting with a mug of lukewarm tea about to start for the day on the task of finishing my self assessment for HMRC, but debating whether or not to go back downstairs to zap my tea in the microwave. Really kicking myself for not keeping better records ….

Contemplating the large amount of carrot soup and the huge amount of stew which I have now succeeded in making.

Having a hot cup of coffee after my very cold walk.

Eating a peanut sandwich and wondering when to start my diet

Undoing a row of cable knitting, combined with decrease, and keep getting into a muddle.

Just finished a coffee. Enjoying the beautiful, golden shower of winter jasmine which I can see from where I am sitting. So cheerful on a wet January morning.

OH gone back to work for a few hours after having him home for 3 weeks, which was full of love and laughter, so I’m in the middle of taking tree down before he gets home full of chatter about his day. I don’t get on doing jobs so well when he’s around!

Figuring out how many times I will be in and out of the garden to finish pruning a large shrub now that it has returned to 'correct' seasonal temperature. So cold but I must do it. Also feeling very pleased with myself that I actually wrote and posted a letter to an old colleague yesterday. Been promising myself since Christmas day. Success!

Looking after 2yo DGS. They have now put him in a bed in stead of a cot. It took three goes to get him to stay there and nap. Eventually I sat at the other end of the bed in the end and he did sleep.

Taxes

Having a sulk - my d.I.l. came over to pick up some curry that I had made for them. I just asked her if she could just drop a pack of the same, for my daughter, on her way back. She refused because she was in a hurry. Good grief, how much time would it take to just drop the curry off? And to think, the number of times I have dropped everything to babysit the boys, when she wanted to go shopping or something like that?

Watching the digs on tv ( historian Alice Roberts) called Digging For Britain, marvellous Roman mosaics and other treasures unearthed.
