Hello! ?

By my reckoning, this thread will see us through until we are near to C********!

SachaMac’s question was ‘if you could travel back to any time or place for one day, where / when would it be’?

I’m still mulling it over…

HowVeryDareYou Sat 29-Oct-22 08:28:00

I like Rock - Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, Papa Roach - best.

Are you able to play any instruments?

biglouis Sat 29-Oct-22 08:48:57

No, the best I ever managed was 3 chords on a guitar!

I enjoyed singing though and (used to have) a good soprano voice.

Have you ever been in a choir or band?

henetha Sat 29-Oct-22 10:14:04

In choirs when I was young. Primary school and Grammar school choirs. Then a local Choral Society when I was middle aged. I always loved singing.

Did you go back to education after your children grew up?
Full time, or local evening class?

FannyCornforth Sat 29-Oct-22 11:17:02

No children to grow up.
I did my PGCE aged 45. In order to do the course I needed a GCSE in a science, so I taught myself GCSE Biology from scratch in four months.
I got an A in spite of having a huge panic attack and going blind during to exam!
It’s my proudest academic achievement.

Tell me something unusual that you are proud of please

hollysteers Sat 29-Oct-22 21:22:18

I had my art in an exhibition for the first time this year.

Answering biglouis upthread re swimming baths.
I too haven’t been to the swimming baths for years, but have been in pools abroad.

Are you a news junkie? (I’m watching less and less)

biglouis Sat 29-Oct-22 23:43:29

The news is so worrying and depressing that I just glance through it on the tablet and then leave it. No pont in getting sucked in to things I cant alter.

If you could choose one talent or ability that you dont currently have what would it be?

Mine would be to be able to drive.

HowVeryDareYou Sat 29-Oct-22 23:54:19

I'd like to be able to use a sewing machine. I was hopeless at needlework at school so opted to do shorthand and typing instead, for the last 2 years. Never learned to make anything.

Do you have a hot meal every day?

FannyCornforth Sun 30-Oct-22 05:25:12

I suppose so, yes. Unless it’s hot weather, but then I still might pop something in the microwave.

I’m really looking forward to seeing Boy George on I’m a Celebrity (I don’t usually watch it).
Is there a reality style program that you enjoy?
I used to love Celebrity Big Brother.
Come Dine with Me and Four in a Bed used to be good , but they’re a bit meh now.

MrsKen33 Sun 30-Oct-22 07:04:56

Not really a fan of anything involving celebrities’.

Has the time change disturbed you this morning.? I was wide awake at four .

biglouis Sun 30-Oct-22 07:51:30

I woke at 6 am which is very unusual for me on a sunday. I can always go back to bed if I get tired later.

Do you usually have breakfast in your dressing gown/PJs or get fully dressed first?

I dont wear clothes in bed so I throw on a kaftan.

HowVeryDareYou Sun 30-Oct-22 08:14:55

I wear my pyjamas and dressing gown and don't get dressed until I've - fed the cat, the squirrels and birds in the garden, had my tablets and cereal, and been on Gransnet for an hour.

What do you have for breakfast?

henetha Sun 30-Oct-22 11:00:15

I often have just a crumpet or toast. But today I had overnight oats.

Do you sing around the house? Can you sing, or do family take the mickey out of your voice?

Lomo123 Sun 30-Oct-22 13:12:40

Can't sing full stop, but OH goes about, songs from the shows, theme tunes from show. Goodness knows how they come into his head.
Anyone carving pumpkins. Or in Scotland a turnip?.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sun 30-Oct-22 16:08:32

No, I'm not keen on Halloween, trick or treat etc, and haven't the strength to carve a pumpkin anyway.

Anyone else celebrating Halloween?

hollysteers Sun 30-Oct-22 16:31:58

Don’t like Halloween at all and particularly realistic gruesome get ups.

Do you feel you have become more right wing or conservative as you have aged?

AGAA4 Sun 30-Oct-22 16:32:31

No I won't be doing anything for Halloween. My 17 year old GD and her coven are celebrating in the Peak District. 😀

Will be dark earlier today. Do you like winter evenings?

AGAA4 Sun 30-Oct-22 16:34:23

hollysteers. No I don't think I have changed much in my political views.

Same question please

Mollygo Sun 30-Oct-22 17:51:01

No. Funny because when I was younger walking home with a boyfriend on a dark night was fun. Walking the dog in the dark at 5:30 is ridiculous!

Got a leaflet through my door offering to deliver 5 frozen ready meals for 1/2 price. I’m not really tempted. Have you ever tried anything like that?

MrsKen33 Sun 30-Oct-22 19:05:20

No as I’d be worried about the quality.

I kept a piece of ham in the fridge, to put in some pasta sauce with mushrooms. DH has just come in eating a ham sandwich. Words fail me. This ever happened to you?

SachaMac Sun 30-Oct-22 19:11:50

No, my mother has frozen ready meals delivered regularly but she can’t really manage to cook anymore. There is a local company who cook & deliver proper roast dinners with fresh ingredients, I could get tempted by one of them.

Do you easily get tempted by money off e mails, vouchers etc or do you just ignore them? I can easily get tempted,

ginny Sun 30-Oct-22 19:39:01

No, unless they are for something I buy regularly.

If I have a steak I like it cooked medium rare. How would you like yours?

biglouis Sun 30-Oct-22 19:51:00

I like my steak overdone.

Did you ever do trick a treating as a kid?

I dont think it had become the custom when I was a young child in the 50s

MrsKen33 Sun 30-Oct-22 20:04:01

Can someone answer my question please .

ginny Sun 30-Oct-22 20:18:10

Yes. DH often ate food items that I had earmarked for other meals or occasions. I soonlearned to put on not on such items. Usually ‘KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF

DGS2 drew us racha happy mouse to put in our purse/wallet to make us smile if we were sad whilst he was away on holiday.
Do you keep anything like this in your purse/ wallet/ bag ?

ginny Sun 30-Oct-22 20:56:57

That should read ‘put a label on it’
