Hello! ?

By my reckoning, this thread will see us through until we are near to C********!

SachaMac’s question was ‘if you could travel back to any time or place for one day, where / when would it be’?

I’m still mulling it over…

crazyH Thu 11-Aug-22 14:24:53

My dear, darling NM ….from school, we went to the same University - post graduated together. She hooked our Professor RS. Sadly, she was taken too soon. We had such an unadulterated friendship……still miss her.
During which years were you the happiest? Mine was my entire childhood, till age 14

crazyH Thu 11-Aug-22 14:26:15

Oh dear, I think I’ve answered the wrong question - sorry

biglouis Thu 11-Aug-22 17:07:56

I dont have children.

If I had then I would have made them earn it by doing chores as my sister and I did. I think it teaches children values that money has to be earned and not handed over on a plate.

What age did you begin to wear make up?

I bought powder and lipstick when I was 15 with the money I earned from a part time job but I did not dare to wear it openly in front of my parents until I turned 16 and began full time work.

Sorry I answered wrong question.

I was happiest in the 1960s.

About 15, but a bit later launched myself into the pale lips and smoky eyes which were so fashionable.

Do you find it easy to say “I love you”?

HowVeryDareYou Thu 11-Aug-22 19:25:56

No, not really. My parents never said it to any of us (not the done thing in those days?), although we knew we were loved.

What do you keep in your handbag?

crazyH Thu 11-Aug-22 19:35:49

You name it - purse, phone, small notebook, rosary, throat lozenges, tissues, mini perfume bottle

We are all probably late 60s / 70s. Is the home you live in now going to be your last or are you thinking of downsizing further. I’m not, though I sometimes wish I had a bungalow but then I read of ‘bungalow legs’ and I’m glad I’m staying put .

AGAA4 Thu 11-Aug-22 19:42:51

I may move again but getting older by the day so possibly not.

Do you keep your home free of clutter?

SachaMac Thu 11-Aug-22 20:06:55

My best friend at school was a girl I met when I was 4, we bad both moved onto a new housing estate with our families in the 60’s. Of course back then we all played outside together for hours. We started infant school on the same day & ended up going right through school together. We remained good friends until she died of cancer in her early 40’s over 20 years ago. Still miss her.

Are you still in touch with any of your old friends from school?

HowVeryDareYou Thu 11-Aug-22 20:12:56

A friend from school contacted me, via Facebook (she looked me up and sent a friend request) a few months ago. We haven't seen each other for about 35 years but may meet up soon.

Who does the ironing in your house?

Mine Thu 11-Aug-22 20:29:17

I do as little ironing as possible..I iron my own clothes as needed and my OH does his.
Do you have a garden or somewhere you can sit out in the sun

ginny Thu 11-Aug-22 20:44:06

We do. It is south facing so the back of the house never gets any sun. Always some shade even in this hot weather.

If you were asked what car someone had would you be able to give make and model or like me just the colour ?

PoppyFlower Thu 11-Aug-22 20:50:27

Mostly the colour and size of the car. Sometimes the make but I get mixed up with all thr Japanese/Korean cars.

If you could go back in time, when and where would you go?

henetha Thu 11-Aug-22 23:37:40

Torquay 1990. I would take a very different course of action to what I did then.

Same question.....

DanniRae Fri 12-Aug-22 07:23:42

To my home in Surrey in 1962 - when I was 14 - and I too would take a different course of action.

Same question again, please......

MrsKen33 Fri 12-Aug-22 09:05:54

To art school in the 60’s. Wonderful memories

Once again please

AGAA4 Fri 12-Aug-22 11:41:48

To 1978 where I would have taken control of a situation.

Interesting question. Same again please

biglouis Fri 12-Aug-22 16:27:18

To when I was 10 going on 11 and was bullied by a teacher into admitting something I had not done. I could have prevented it by being a bit more "streetwise".

If you were elected Dictator tomorrow what would be your first order?

Mine would be a decree to nationalise ALL the utility companies without compensation and run them for the public benefit.

hollysteers Fri 12-Aug-22 16:31:23

No more wars (fanciful I know…)
And I agree with the nationalise decree. Plus railways.

Do you have days when you feel tearful for no particular reason?

PoppyFlower Fri 12-Aug-22 16:43:14

Yes, I do! If something bad or good happens. But I am in the midst of perimenopause! I used to cry just around the time of my period but now it can be anytime of the month.

BTW, thanks everyone for their recollections of times past they would go back to, if they could. Also, that a few would take a different path now!

Question: if there was one person, now passed, that you would like to see again, who would it be and why?

HowVeryDareYou Fri 12-Aug-22 18:50:36

My mum - I still miss her, and she's been gone since 1995 sad

Have you got any pets?

SachaMac Fri 12-Aug-22 18:58:00

We had many different pets when the children were young but now I just have my lovely Border Terrier.
