No. 4 is Bistro

wildswan16 Sun 25-Dec-22 17:39:43

3 might be Sluagh-ghairm which gives us our word "slogan"

NotAGran55 Sun 25-Dec-22 07:12:25

I hope you are OK LadyD 💐

FannyCornforth Sat 24-Dec-22 05:46:42

Are you not doing any more quizzes now LadyH?

FannyCornforth Sat 24-Dec-22 05:39:19

Try, not so

FannyCornforth Sat 24-Dec-22 05:38:48

Grannmarie, no 1 is definitely chocolate.
It’s an Aztec word. The Aztecs invented chocolate (hence the name of the much missed Aztec bar).
They consumed it as a drink with added chilli (Don’t so this at home!)
I know this as The Aztecs are on the Year 5 curriculum.
It wasn’t my favourite topic

Grannmarie Fri 23-Dec-22 18:08:44

Is no 1 gin and no 10 chocolate?

foxie48 Tue 20-Dec-22 09:50:30

Is no 2 Dula?

foxie48 Tue 20-Dec-22 09:47:53

I agree with Casdon that it's bistro for no 4 and think no 8 is Hussar.

JackyB Tue 20-Dec-22 08:09:11

A stab in the dark at 3: Tattoo?

JackyB Tue 20-Dec-22 08:05:08

2 would be robot.

Casdon Tue 20-Dec-22 07:22:04

I think 4 might be bistro - one boy did Russian A level at my school, and I think he used that - I could well be wrong though.

NotAGran55 Tue 20-Dec-22 06:48:19

I randomly think I know 6 but I’m stumped on everything else. Although I would have guessed canteen too Fanny

I think 6 is catamaran. I had a clever sailing friend years ago and this is the sort of information he would have imparted by-the-by.

FannyCornforth Tue 20-Dec-22 05:38:49

After much thought, I’m guessing

4. Canteen

FannyCornforth Tue 20-Dec-22 05:33:37

Blimey! These really are difficult.

1. Chocolate 🍫

Well done, Ruby, I didn’t know that, but now you’ve mentioned it, I’m sure that you’re right

crazyH Tue 20-Dec-22 00:49:15

1. Tonic Water

rubysong Tue 20-Dec-22 00:32:37

Yet again, I think I know one.
7. Ukelele

Grannmarie Mon 19-Dec-22 22:52:04

Ooh, I love a quiz! Really good questions, LHD, but hard!!!
Is no.5 tycoon, or mogul, or shogun?
No.9, barber, from barba ?

I shall return...
