all through the house, there was last minute present wrapping taking place.

The Christmas tree and home were decorated.

Mince pies in the oven when...

a loud BANG and a puff of green smoke rent the air.

“Oh bother!” said Dad when he’d picked himself up off the floor.

The oven had blown up.

And the brussels sprouts, broccoli and peas exploded, splattering the kitchen walls and ……..

Newly laid carpet costing hundreds

The glass from the oven door shattered, covering all the veg and mince pies.

The noise was deafening, screaming, shouting, shattering glass together with a noxious smell causing light headedness.

Someone called the fire brigade and the shell shocked family were escorted into the street .
Neighbours rushed to help them .

"Come and eat with us on Christmas Day" said the next door neighbours, who had always seemed so kind.

But aren't you Vegan said Dad discourteously?

“For you we’ll amend our menu,” said the kindly neighbour. “It’s not all about nuts you know.”

We could have a delicious layered lettuce loaf 😩
