Can anyone recommend a way of getting rid of moss in the block paving we have? We used to use diluted sodium chloride but it is no longer available, and as we get older it is becoming a difficult task.

Have you tried sprinkling salt on the paving blocks and leaving it for a bit, especially if the blocks are damp to begin with?

How about bleach?

PS I think you meant sodium chlorate, because sodium chloride is just ordinary salt.

Live with it? www.gransnet.com/life-and-style/gardening/moss

Not always practical to live with it, though. We have masses of it and I love it – at least half our greensward is moss and we have big clumps of it too, but on a path or steps it can be hazardous.

Sheila, you could use Armaillox but i'm afraid it is expensive at Garden Centres. If you know someone who has access to an allotment site shop it would work out a lot cheaper
