Oh I see, about the 'ole. Yes, I will keep you posted. Not sure what I will do yet. I was planning another acid email to Clarence, but I might just sneak out after dark and make a mini-garden and then sit back and see what happens. The lollipop lady patrols hat corner so I can enlist her to report. she is up in arms too, waiting for a child to put a foot down the 'ole and break a leg.

I have one at the bottom of my garden. It's the one dd planted as an acorn to bonsai. Now at least12 ft tall!

Bags If I had a quercus pedunculatus I would plant it in my garden - not waste it on Clarence. Used to have two at our Border cottage (though they might have been the other sort) and they got together and dropped three little seedlings, which I would have loved to dig up up and bring here, but decided the garden was probably a bit small and towny for them. The neighbours would have objected to their lawns being shadowed.

Brazil nuts are hard to open, well.... what we call Brazil nuts. Aren't they from the inside of the nut, technically.

An oak tree?

These have inspired me. There is a hole in the pavement that I pass whenever I walk to the shop. it is 9 inches across and four inches deep, and I have informed the road maintenance department (Clarence) three times. Each time they promise action, then cover it with a temporary piece of curling plywood that gets kicked aside. I shall fill it with compost and plant something in it.
