Parsley indoors? Advice please. Urgent!

I had some not very brilliant parsley growing outside in two window boxes. None of this summer's crops have been up to much (see elsewhere!)

So about a week ago, I brought them inside. Put them in the kitchen window. They're much warmer and they get what little light there is around in mid-November plus my kitchen artificial light (if that counts).

They hate it! Virtually all the spindly little shoots (maybe 1cm long but spindly) have suddenly collapsed and don't look like they're going to recover. I may be guilty of having overwatered them, but they were sodden outside in the recent wet weather anyway. Is there hope? confused

Perhaps they don't like the warmth and/or the change of climate.

I am never successful with Basil on the windowsill.

I wonder if you could keep them outside under a cloche?

I don't think it would ever be light enough indoors for parsley at this time of year and artificial light would not help much.
It is probably too warm in a kitchen. A light and not too hot or cold conservatory might work.

Curly leaf parsley freezes very sucessfully is it worth trying to grow?

Still got some under the cloches in the garden and lots in the greenhouse...

petallus I have always failed with basil – indoors, outdoors, in plots, in pots. This year I have a thriving plant on the windowsill in my kitchen (cross fingers). I have no idea why it seems to have worked this time. confused

Isthis, parsley doesn't mind a bit of cold so maybe it's too hot in your kitchen. It also sounds like you've overwatered them. They may be sodden outside but drainage may be a problem indoors.

My OH has taken to feeding the basil with an organic plant food. It is doing brilliantly by the window.

Waitrose Cooks' Ingredients frozen parsley is very good and doesn't let you down!

Petallus, I fell about laughing at you remark,''I am never successful with Basil on the windowsill'' I hope he doesn't mind ,it must be rather narrow.

Hunt gringrin gracesmum agreed, the Waitrose stuff is great, along with all the other frozen stuff they do, basil, garlic, chillies etc. They don't take up any room in the freezer and there's no waste

I Want My Own!!!!! Not frozen supermarket paid-for stuff. I have Standards, Ambitions, er yes but I can't grow Parsley. smile
