I think re-watching the French series would be a really good idea!

Yes we missed him when he was away. Apart from Alice the programme presenters had little charm.

Monty can do no wrong really... except when he did that daft thing about planting by the phases of the moon.
What's a poor man to say? "The weather is going go be godawful all weekend, snow, sleet, floods and pestilence. Again. Stay in and order your seeds and summer bulbs. Re-watch my series about French gardens."

Shut up Kitty!! grin
Don't mention the summergrin

I'm working on the basis that last year summer was c**p after sun in March so, this year, we are bound to get a fabulous summer, aren't we? sunshine

Speckidear why do I not want to know? grin As shysal says it was nearly 20 degrees here this time last year but tonight it's Good King Wenceslas weather. Even if I felt like mulching my borders I would be unlikely to find them and this is only Bucks!

21 degrees here in SW France today - I planted a rose and a rhododendron, pruned back and scraped and tidied and dreamed of being in that woodland garden with Monty and his nice dog. blush

This time last year it was 18 degrees. Unfortunately it did not last. Who knows what this year will bring?

janeainsworth Sat 23-Mar-13 17:22:07

Exactly this time last year I put a photo on my Facebook page of a camellia in our garden that was in full flower.
This year none of the buds are anywhere near opening yet sad
Oh for somesunshine

I am pleased for Monty that he had fine weather for a change. He so often appears in rain, which must be miserable for the whole crew.
I shall resist the temptation to go out mulching in the snow!

gracesmum Sat 23-Mar-13 11:20:02

Why couldn't I spot that I had not typed in advance? (Do not answer, maybe snow blindness?)

gracesmum Sat 23-Mar-13 11:18:57

Last night on Gardeners' World, bathed in Spring sunshine with March buds threatening to burst out all over, Monty urged us to be out there mulching our beds.
Huh.
My garden is under a good 1-2" of snow this morning and doesn't look as if the beds are even going to be visible this weekend.
The perils of recording a programme even a few days on advancesmile !
