Hi . we were given some Nasturtium plants that have flourished but now they are covered in little black flies! Any suggestions please how to get rid of them? thanks

I was told that if you plant marigolds around them they deter the black flies.

Squash them with your fingers and pick the worst leaves and bin them.

thank you . they are in pots so have moved them away from other plants. I will try and squash them but there are hundreds of them! smile

The nasturtiums attract the blackfly and in doing so protect your other plants. Try emptying your washing up water over them. It's an old trick....not sure if it works but worth a try.

My mum used to spray them with a very diluted mix of water and washing up liquid. She did the same with the roses to get rid of greenfly. She was so ahead of her time on the being a green gardener front.
