I'm newbie in gardening. I just want to know that is artificial grass safe to install.

Has anyone tried it yet?

Did you ask this before, Kevin? I seem to remember the question. What do you mean by safe? Safe for what? for you? for children? for pets? for the garden? for the environment? You will have to be a bit more specific about what you are afraid of.

I don't know what you mean by safe but I have it in my garden. GC play on it, no weeds grow in it and only needs brushing to remove leaves and debris. Confuses the hell out of the birds though grin

Are you selling some, kevin497?

Anyway, I like to see the birds digging for worms.

There was mention on a thread last year of artificial grass containing lead - perhaps that's what Kevin means. It doesn't as far as I'm aware.

I wouldn't try eating it wink

Why would artificial grass contain lead ? It is a roll of plastic that gets put down like a carpet.

I think once upon a time there used to be lead in it (no idea why) and there were concerns that as it wore down there might be some dust released, but it is no longer used so new stuff would be OK. Maybe Kevin has seen old reports.

He would be better finding accurate and up-to-date information somewhere than asking us old yins who know no more than he does.

Lots of places say that their grass is lead-free.Here is the google page that came up when I did a search for leadfree artificial grass UK

You might have to hoover it?

Does it stop cats pooing on it? Wouldn't like to have to clear that off artificial grass hmm

We have artificial grass which has been much admired by passers by and in fact I know of at least three others who have had it installed after seeing ours. Cats don't poo on it -loopy they like to go on soil where they can cover their offerings. Not sure about dogs but so far none have trespassed.

DH likes to brush stripes into it in summer using a yard brush and we have not had any weeds coming through. It's so easy to look after and we are very pleased with it.
