petra are they the tuberous kind? , they should look like a flatish bulb, if so they should start to bud from the bulb around March/April time.. not sure about the fibrous rooted ones I didn't think they could be kept through the Winter I always threw mine out as I have no where to overwinter them.. I used to dry the bulbs of the tuberous kind and keep them in a paper bag under the stairs in the Winter.

meant to add that I would repot them in the Spring and hang them in the shed till after the frosts were gone.

I cut back the foliage in October, leave them in the pots and put them under the bench in the shed.
Then forget about them till I see about 3inches of growth, remember what they are and bring them into the light. Water very sparsely and after danger of frost has gone put them out. It works every time.
I repotted them last year, after about 5 years in the same pots. I do feed them when they are growing. x

I meant to say, I usually don't see any growth until about April/ May. x

So maybe I'm being a bit eager. Will have a look and see what kind they are.

Usually, in the south we will see ours sprout earl April. I find them easy to grow and keep them in the garage until their is a small discernable growth. Repot them one they start to sprout either directly into pots or in a tray of compost. I find the tray method best because if we get a very wet April they can quickly be put back in the shed. Too much wet is when they are most vulnerable
