Sounds like I might have to send half of it! But not as big as I found online though.

Alieoxon send me a cuttiing if it gets too big. The are said to need a reasonably sheltered spot

I do think that it may need a reasonably sheltered position though.

You can prune the trees at the same time as the clematis. The tree surgeon pruned the Silver Brirch a couple of years ago, he cut down a lot of the clematis. But they soon bounced back as good as before.

I have a holly tree which I don't like, that it could grow up....trouble is that keeps growing too much as well!

My bottom of my garden neighbour has one which grows over and through the cupressus sp? which separates us. It is lovely when out,and we get the benefit as well as him.

We planted ours at the base of a silver birch. It looks like the Hanging Gardens of Babylon when in flower! Scrambles away happily and does not harm the tree.

Do you have a hedge it could grow through?

My sister has produced a Clematis Armandii as a present for me.

I do like clematis....but....this can grow enormous, having looked it up!
Where to put a possible 15 m of creeper!
