Patience on a monument

How many of you remember Peter Seabrook, who used to be a presenter on "Pebble Mill at One"? About 30 odd years ago, he showed a lovely, simple water feature of a millstone, with water bubbling gently through the middle. Oh, I so wanted one of those, I am still waiting. smile

I really enjoyed that program it was very varied not like the rubbish on lunchtimes now!

Couldn't understand the title of this thread and why it was under gardening. My gran used this expression when she thought you weren't doing your share of the work or joining in something- "Well don't just sit there like Patience on a monument" Confusing!

I didn't watch it very often; I like the idea of the water feature though!

DS and I used to watch The Sullivans followed by Mr Ben or Bod!

Haven't heard that expression for years, but it was frequently used (by me) when confronted by a loungeful of teenagers slumped in front of TISWAS/ Noel Edmunds etc on a Saturday morning.

You can still buy them, Auntieflo, but you would need a pump too I think.
Most large garden centres stock something similar some artificial ones too
