The raspberry canes in our fruit cage are infested with ants. Fairly new to raspberry growing. Question is, will they harm/damage the plants, and how can I get rid of them (they bite like crazy!)

Remove any limbs from the raspberry bush that touch the ground. Sprinkle diatomaceous earth around the raspberry plants to kill the ants. Grow herbs and other plants with strong odors around your raspberries to repel ants.

Thank you, I've never heard of diatomaceous earth, we will have to look in the garden centre.

I din't think it killed them, they just don't like crossing it, it is also a treatment for bed mites.

Are you raspberry plants covered with aphids? That's usually why plants have ants crawling all over them, they 'milk' the aphids for honeydew. Ants won't harm your plants but aphids will. Get rid of the aphids.
