Water lilies

We have a lovely yellow water lily in our pond but even though there are plenty of leaves and flowers, the flowers aren't opening. They come to the surface and I can see the lovely yellow petals but then they just sit there not opening and after 3/4 days they go brown and I have to remove them. Any ideas please?

Does your pond get plenty of sun? (Unlikely this summer)

Yes its in full sun, OH made some frames that I can put over the water when we get too much sun but I only cover half at a time so it gets plenty of sun.

Remove other flowers from that place so will get a best look of this flower or put out this and grow it in a pot alone .

It is in its own pot already all on its own but thanks anyway
