Here is a closer photo of the flowers.

Ah, you had me worried for a minute. No, I have just looked back and that request was in response to a discussion I had with my niece about a piece of flowering plant someone had given her that she couldn’t identify and turned out to be Salvia ‘Hotlips’. The photo in the other thread helped me to identify it as a salvia because the flowers were the same shape. ?

Greyduster, I just looked up my previous identification request and the person who had already asked the same was you! Is it the same plant that you mentioned then do you think?

What an idiot! I just went out to smell the leaves and then remembered there weren’t any leaves!!

Nellie I have a large clump of Erysium Bowles Mauve (what stunning plants they are!) and it’s not that I’m afraid, but thanks.

Greyduster, this looks like a Salvia Microphylla. I asked GNetters to identify the 'pink blush' version for me last year, only to find that someone else had already been given the answer to the same query. They are spectacular and carry on flowering right until the first frost. Does it smell herbal, like sage, which is the same family?

That purple one looks like this but I am not certain without a real close up of the flowers on yours.

But I think it might be this .

Thanks merlot. We’ve been here seven years and last year was the best I’ve seen it. It doesn’t deserve to be tucked away in a corner. It might grow better if it has a bit more sun and space, and this year I have the space!

It looks like a salvia to me. If it's just a bunch of bare twigs at the moment you should soon be able to see some new growth. Wait until the danger of frosts has passed before cutting it back.

Does anyone know whether this is a Veronica? Or maybe a salvia? It has always been in a corner (I didn’t plant it) and I would like to move it to somewhere where it will be better seen. At the moment it is just a bunch of bare twigs.

Thanks everyone. It was beautiful and as lemon grove say I would love to have one but probably too cold in UK.

Well that is unusual!

Lovely plant ginny I would love one, but doubt it would be warm enough for it here.

It's beautiful smile - from the 'Bean ' family? Who would think that?

Isn't it fabulous - found this Wiki entry for it.

Looks like some sort of honeysuckle?

ginny Wed 20-Sept-17 16:17:25

I think the locals here on Naxos call this something like 'snail trail'.
