Cut the lawn, anyone else?

My lawn is still too wet and squelchy. I garden on a steep slope so glad to put it off for a bit longer, as I hate mowing it. I am pleasantly surprised at the lack of moss this year. I put it down to applications of Mo Bacter last spring and autumn. Expensive but kills and digests moss without the need to scarify.

The same - my lawn is one big green squelch!

I was out on mine today; drying, but not enough to take the mower yet. With the promised wet weather at the weekend we may be back to square one.

Mine was cut last week.

Mine has a gentle slope so was cut at the weekend in anticipation of the DGCs egg-rolling on Friday. But weather forecast now makes it look as though those eggs will be rolled up and down the hall

Yes we cut th lawn yesterday.
Haven't had much rain recently so it is quite dry.

H has started his seasonal gardening jobs again, so last week he cut 3 lawns including ours.

DS gave ours a trim today, making the most of the sunshine.

It’s so nice to just be outside without hat,gloves,boots etc.

...and listening to the birds....

DH cut the lawn today too - it looks so much nicer for it! We were both feeling quite Spring-like, with a line full of washing, the sun shining, and the lawn mower going. I even went up to the shops without a coat, just a lightweight cardigan over a thin, short sleeved top. OK I went in the car but I did have to walk from the carpark and back.

I managed to do something I’ve wanted for ages. I had a plastic terracotta colour dish about the size of a bird ? bath that I had a small water Lilly in, I’ve emptied it out and sunk it into the ground and filled it with rainwater in a quiet part of the garden hopefully I’ll get a bit of wildlife to like it. It’s not very big but big enough for a frog or two ?

Nothing beats a real lawns, even though some work is involved.About a month ago ,as usual, our lawn looked shocking.But this year we treated ourselves to a lawn care company scarifying and aerating it.Then at the weekend DH cut it,and like the rest of the garden it's springing back to life amazingly.Yesterday our newish neighbours invited us to see the alterations to their garden.It looks immaculately tidy.All solid fences down to the ground,paving,decking and artificial grass.An outdoor room,rather than a garden though to me,and I came away feeling a bit depressed.No hedgehog holes,no hedges left for nesting birds and no real grass for the blackbirds to rummage for worms after a rain shower. Each to their own I guess.But it made me even more determined to make our garden a pleasure for us,and the wildlife too.So this morning I topped up the bird baths,fed all our lovely regular birds and vowed not to get too carried away tidying the bottom end where the logs are piled,the bee hive is and we let it go a bit wild the hope of giving a hedgehog or two a chance of survival. Creating a wildlife pond is my next project, but considering it carefully as want to make it safe with young GC visiting.

I went out this afternoon and all I could hear was lawn mowers. I also admired a neighbours immaculate lawn for some months, when I walked past it last week, part of it had been rolled up! I should wear my glasses more often......

I agree washerwoman a garden is a living place.

I cut ours (on a high cut) yesterday afternoon. It was so lovely. The lawn was much drier than I thought it would be.

I know what you mean washerwoman I have got the only “real living” garden in my street. The rest are all paved or artificial (plastic) grass. It has its downsides mind you because we get all of the bloomin’ cats using it as a toilet.

DH-the gardener of the house-"instructed" me not to cut grass yet. . . . .so I didn't. Tidied up instead. My Back only allowed about half an hour☹️ But it was so lovely to be outside again. Forgot to have a look at piles of logs etc I've left for wildlife. My dear French penfriend died last autumn. When we went over for the funeral, had a walk in his beloved garden and found his "hotel des insectes"-happy memories.

I seem to be lagging behind my neighbours but I haven't cut my lawn. It's far to wet to use and electric mower at the moment so we need a good few days of dry weather before I can get to it. Not looking good for the Easter weekend.

So happy when I saw the rain this morning that I’d taken the opportunity to get it done yesterday. It’s probably squelchy after that downpour.

Well cut lawns make the garden look better and, strangely, bigger.Edging is a bit of a pain but have now bought an electric one, money well spent.

My husband broke his leg last month ( how convenient!) so I have been cutting our huge lawn. Quite enjoyed it though. It was the second cut - DH would have left it longer but I'm in charge - so there! It looks lovely! Soon he can take over as part of his physiotherapy!
