Ideas for winter colour

Last year I planted winter flowering pansies in my tubs and they did very well. This year I have not been able to do that as the begonias in the tubs have only just started to go over. So I have missed the boat on planting pansies.

Does anyone please have any ideas as to what I could plant?

I managed to get pansies last week so keep trying. Otherwise primrose or polyanthus with a succession of bulbs. I also put a little bright green conifer in each pot and ivy around the edge for interest if there is a lull in flowering, I still have fuschias, balcony geraniums and osteospermums in flower and haven't the heart to throw them out.

Have a look in your local garden centre. Pansies/viola recover after a frost, even if they look a little sad. At the moment I have pansies, cyclamen, planted with some fern. They are underplanted with crocus, iris reticulata, mini narcissus, which will be a nice surprise in the New Year.
