Tiny rose (pot plant)

Over the last few months I have been given ‘a rose plant’ in a small pot by three different people.

One contained four small roses and the other two contained three! All jammed into the original pots to look like a bush rose!

They’ve all been repotted and look very healthy - all ten of them!! ?? Guess what I’ll be gifting to people?!

Monty is away just for a week. I had heard a rumour that Adam Frost is being groomed to take over Gardeners World in the future.

Where is Monty ?

Not a rose, but an orchid someone gave me. It sulked for two years after I repotted it. Suddenly it is now in bloom and happy! Sometimes patience is needed! And as for a rose, definitely outdoors. Unlike this needy orchid!

Thanks again everyone - it’s now outside. I looked again at the teeny weeny pot that it came in and it has definitely grown so must be happy!

A couple of months ago I received one of these mini roses as a gift: recently I planted it into an outside flower bed - where it seems to be much happier!

They don't like it inside ... pop it outside, either in its pot or in the ground, and it will live for years.

I had two last year for my,birthday and they were in metal pots with no drainage. I have transferred them to crock pots outdoors and although they haven’t flowered yet they look healthy.

I gave my daughter in law one of those tiny roses one year and she planted it in her garden, where it is thriving after about four years.
Roses usually bloom in June/July so you might get more flowers as the summer progresses.

I had one of these a couple of years ago- I waited until the warmer weather & planted it on the garden where it thrived but became a much bigger plant. It's not very big- about 18" & had pretty flowers later that year & again last year. Very good value!

I got one of these a couple of years ago. I repotted it and have left it outdoors since then. It has bloomed each year. At the moment the first bloom of the year has just come out. I feed all my plants once a week in summer so it had had the same treatment.

Yes was in bloom when I got it. Fingers crossed it survives - will be great if it flowers again. Will buy some calendula seeds - sounds like a great tip!

Was the Rose in bloom when you received it? It may be the the Rose is the variety that flowers once a year usually through the summer. Roses given for Mothering Sunday are quite often forced into flower early. It is possible that the Rose will get a second flush this year or might wait till next year. I would put some calendula seeds in the pot with it. These well look pretty and keep the greenfly from the Rose. I would Give it a weak seaweed feed too.

Sometimes plants don't like to be potted on into a much bigger pot, but prefer to gradually go up in size by a couple of inches at a time. It doesn't seem to be logical but it is what the experts recommend.

I got a larger one than that and have kept it going in its pot , I cut off the spent flowers and give it a good watering once a week , they don't like to be sitting in water , but don't let it dry out
