Been here two years and a few shrubs, three hydrangeas growing spaced along fence it's a longish narrow garden. One side is a pink brick wall would a painted pink fence match blend in or a contrast colour like green? The shed would be painted too.

I’d go for a soft heather colour but I think really any soft colour would work. Pretty garden grany. Let us know what you decide.

Dark olive green would set off the shrubs and not compete with them.

I think green would look good.

I like the colour heather hadn't thought of that cornergrani I am tempted with olive green too varian have to think a bit more. Thanks both.

We have a neighbour who paints everything black. Looks marvellous. A wonderful background to flowers and quite a dramatic effect.

I don't think I would paint the fence or the shed. Just stain it with a warm wood colour.

My husband painted our summer house/shed a mauve/heathery shade to match the heather growing below it.
We love colour in the garden, including the plants and flowers.
I would paint your fence a colour that goes with your planting, plain brown is just that, plain!

Gonegirl Fri 17-May-19 16:36:48

No! My shed is stained a sunshiny brown. Colour should come from the flowers and shrubs.

Alan Titchmarsh favours a lavender colour, probably similar to the heather.
My shed is pale mint green, but I don't think it would work on the fence.

The camera on the kindle isn't the best, but here is the summer house anyway.

We have a black fence and find it really makes the plants stand out.
We have a lilac shed, which I love.
We also have a fence painted grey by one of the patios as a contrast. It really works.
Don’t be afraid to be adventurous, if you don’t like it paint over it.

My shed. Looks brighter than this on a sunny day. (which today is definitely not)

A pale sage green looks good.

Here’s the sage green fence

I have a black fence, not that you can see it, it disappears behind the shrubs and you can't see it at all. My fence is a light grey made by mixing a bit of black in with ash white looks very expensive but was done on the cheap.

FlexibleFriend Fri 17-May-19 19:06:27

When you say the fence do you mean the trellis in the pic? If so just remember it will run around to the neighbours side. I painted my trellis before I put it up so that I could paint both sides evenly.
