I have some grey painted areas in my garden and I think that colour shows off the plants really well!

I like all your colour fences and sheds and lovely gardens . Yes black looks striking, BBbevan and Greytin94 Gonegirl just stain a lovely brown looks good agree. MiniMoon love the heathery shade too looks good with heather. tanith theSeagrass shed looks fab with the trees around behind. crystaltipps love the green sage fence Cuprinol do a range of shades colour I think I will go with a green. Thanks all happy gardening

When you say the fence do you mean the trellis in the pic? If so just remember it will run around to the neighbours side. I painted my trellis before I put it up so that I could paint both sides evenly.

I have a black fence, not that you can see it, it disappears behind the shrubs and you can't see it at all. My fence is a light grey made by mixing a bit of black in with ash white looks very expensive but was done on the cheap.

Here’s the sage green fence

tanith Fri 17-May-19 18:10:00

Seagrass, blooming autocorrect

crystaltipps Fri 17-May-19 18:09:42

A pale sage green looks good.

tanith Fri 17-May-19 18:09:00

Sorry that’s the wrong pic. I’ll try again

tanith Fri 17-May-19 18:08:04

This colour is Seagrams I love it

Gonegirl Fri 17-May-19 17:29:37

My shed. Looks brighter than this on a sunny day. (which today is definitely not)

Greytin94 Fri 17-May-19 17:24:06

We have a black fence and find it really makes the plants stand out.
We have a lilac shed, which I love.
We also have a fence painted grey by one of the patios as a contrast. It really works.
Don’t be afraid to be adventurous, if you don’t like it paint over it.

The camera on the kindle isn't the best, but here is the summer house anyway.

Alan Titchmarsh favours a lavender colour, probably similar to the heather.
My shed is pale mint green, but I don't think it would work on the fence.

Gonegirl Fri 17-May-19 16:36:48

No! My shed is stained a sunshiny brown. Colour should come from the flowers and shrubs.

MiniMoon Fri 17-May-19 16:30:19

My husband painted our summer house/shed a mauve/heathery shade to match the heather growing below it.
We love colour in the garden, including the plants and flowers.
I would paint your fence a colour that goes with your planting, plain brown is just that, plain!

Gonegirl Fri 17-May-19 16:13:05

I don't think I would paint the fence or the shed. Just stain it with a warm wood colour.

BBbevan Fri 17-May-19 15:59:54

We have a neighbour who paints everything black. Looks marvellous. A wonderful background to flowers and quite a dramatic effect.

I like the colour heather hadn't thought of that cornergrani I am tempted with olive green too varian have to think a bit more. Thanks both.

Tangerine Fri 17-May-19 15:54:37

I think green would look good.

varian Fri 17-May-19 15:21:38

Dark olive green would set off the shrubs and not compete with them.

cornergran Fri 17-May-19 14:55:00

I’d go for a soft heather colour but I think really any soft colour would work. Pretty garden grany. Let us know what you decide.

Been here two years and a few shrubs, three hydrangeas growing spaced along fence it's a longish narrow garden. One side is a pink brick wall would a painted pink fence match blend in or a contrast colour like green? The shed would be painted too.
