You're right about birds. I was going to cut back the ivy a few years ago but saw a tawny owl was roosting in it.

Bees love ivy and we need bees. Just control it but I may be too late. We have a bees' nest in our ivy.

Quatermass springs to mind! Does anyone remember the old series?

Birds love nesting in ivy so it's a good idea to check for babies before you start.

Cut it near the base if you can and the top will die back. We have loads too, and it's busy attacking our boundary wall.

I'm always tempted to add " and Mrs Hoskins " at the end of ivy because of the radio programme that used to be on years ago.

However, ivy the plant should be eradicated if it's anywhere near walls as it forces the cement out once it's got a hold. Awful stuff really. My mum used to collect a few sprigs from the garden to put with the holly at Christmas.

Just chop it back. It will regrow because you have to kill the roots to get rid of it completely.

Chop it back! It will swallow you next!
