What a lovely surprise for your homecoming. When we go on holiday the first thing I do is inspect the garden on our return and it's always amazing to see how much things have grown. They do look very healthy!!?
Oh Scribbles what a beautiful display and I love the colours. My hydrangeas this year are glorious. One is deep rose pink and the other much paler. I managed to prune them in spring and they have rewarded us with a magnificent show. I have a photo but not sure how to put photos on here.
In the spring, I was worried that I'd allowed my hydrangeas to become too parched in last year's long, dry summer. When I dead-headed them in March, they seemed very sad and were slow to form new flower buds - and the ones that did form were very small and scrawny.
I fed them some general fertiliser and hoped I hadn't actually killed them and fretted a bit because I really love them. I need not have worried. Two days ago, I returned from holiday to a fabulous display which I just had to share.
